  • Tribute and the Tradeskill Economy

With the new tribute values slowly tickling out, does anyone think that the values will have an impact on bazaar prices? I bought a coral ring for 300pp pre-GoD and they are now priced at 3000pp, right around their tribute value. This could mean that tradeskill final products will actually get some respect. On the downside, it could bring more scarcity to components and push those prices up as well.

Makes me wonder what Acrylia chain tunics will tribute for... I made a few last night getting to 215 smithing, and no buyers yet. Hmmm...

I guess I see how the price on some higher end tradeskill items might rise to match their tribute value, but honestly, most people just want to get rid of end products without taking to much of a loss (LDoN armor anyone? how much do you see on a vendor?), so in general, I'd guess most things will continue to sell for less than their tribute value...

Lucy now includes tribute point values on its item listings.

Acrylia chain armor ranges in value from 78 for the mask to 360 for the tunic.

Acrylia studded armor has a much wider range from 7 for the mask to 1274 for the tunic.

In general, the tribute values for tradeskill items are rarely good enough to be worth making them solely for tribute turn ins, but are good enough to make it worth turning them in instead of dumping them on vendors or driving down bazaar prices if you are making large numbers of items for skillup purposes.

I was so hoping that Solstice Robes would be worthwhile. I can't stomach competing with the powerskillers who sell them at 250pp just to clear their bank space, so I have close to 200 of them on various mules.

Sadly, though, they are only worth 37 tribute points.

LDoN plate bp's range from 240 (calcified) to 898 (sandblasted). Also, the arms (2 sheet - 434) are more than the legs (3 sheet - 300) in the deep cavern set. Go figure.

Considering you can buy the LDoN armor off merchants for less than 100pp, thats a good find if you are vendor mining for tribute-worthy items.

Also, I now have a new skill up strategy:

Instead of glutting the market with dozens of items, or dumping them all on a vendor and hoping potential customers don't find them, I'll put a few on the bazaar mule and get tribute points for the rest!

              I absolutely agree.

There's definitely an affect on bazaar prices. I've already pulled a bunch of items off the market and used them for tribute instead. I've also been buying LDoN smithed armor off merchants and turning it in for tribute. And I'm going to be skilling up tailoring on robes (which are unsellable) instead of black panther skins (which sell pretty well), because of the tribute values... the panther market is bound to be affected.

I'm convinced that historical bazaar prices have at least some relation to tribute values. This explains, in part, why tradeskill items get good tribute values -- they used to sell for much more than they do today. Cultural blue diamond armors for instance. But some items apparently still use a default value, because they haven't been sold often enough in the bazaar. As a test I checked the tribute values of all the cultural tailoring robes:

High Elf, Dark Elf, Erudite, Human, Iksar, Gnome
                Robe of Sorcery 36, Cyclone 42, Radiant 36, Mana 30, Abatement 30, Neglect 29
                Robe of Skewn 60, Burnishing 60, Inverse 60, Scent 48, Obligation 60, Breath 42
                Robe of Tears 120, Wings 180, Ethereal 240, Concussion 180, Requisition 180, Astral 180
                Robe of Slant 1620, Ellipse 600, Dew 1513, Lodestone 1454, Asylum 426, Tashani 1758

Just as an FYI, if you are using the lucy database to obtain values for comparisons, not all of the items have been updated. *shrug*

I would say that, right now, BD cultural seems to have the best pp/Tribute ratio. Bracers are worth 7K Tribute, and only cost one BD per attempt.

I'm going to experiment with creating a couple of bracers and try selling them for 5K while advertising that they're worth 7K in tribute. While that doesn't seem like much, it's still the best PP/Tribute ratio I've seen on items for sale in the bazaar.

I've been keenly interested in the best Tribute bang-for-the-buck...the best thing I can find for what I can make is Tunarean Soldier greaves at around 13k trib. points. Take 3 bd's, but I can make them pretty cheap. Wish leather bd cultural was the same as the plate - the disparity is annoying.

I also looked at Blessed Faydark Thunderbolts - 2 bd's and some mithril (and oh yeah, a foraged oak bark) for 6k trib. But the wood elf legs are a lot better for one more bd.
