Did GoD add any tradeskill items or quests for us poor under 51 slobs or were we left out in the cold again? Which leads me to ask, is it pointless for SOE to include midlevels as a target group for expansions or do they (or anyone) believe in the alt replay market?

There is evidently no level limit for access to the zone Abysmal Sea, which contains the tradeskiller's dream city of The Queen of Thorns.
I can't say that I tried a level one char (I don't have any) but I took my level 34 gnome chanter there and did the tinkering tradeskill quest quite easily and was able to do the combines using tradeable items looted in Natimbi.
Presumably someone should check to confirm this with a level one, but ... you get the idea.

No level restriction
I saw a level 3 Berserker in Natimbi this evening, so there's no level limit. Kind of disheartening IMO to see such low levels in that zone...not to mention the number of corpses they'll leave. Enough 55+ die there that /hidecorpse all is needed. IMO, Natimbi should be Planar level (46+) flagged, Abysmal is safe and should not be restricted, but lower than 46 and it's train city due to low level agro.

Nine times out of ten on my server the ones doing the training are the higher levels who bit off more than they could chew, and decided they would bring their problems back to those at the camp to handle.Melisande Desantosille

Left in the cold again?
I must take issue with yer statement, Mighty SparrowHawk. My main has only just achieved the 51st season. I feel uber, but I'm still probably the lowest main in my guild! I for one did not feel "left in the dark" by LDON - I got a huge boost to my smithing, some drops that I'm actually using, some augments, and had a lot of fun. I have found the LoY zones to be some of the best soloing experience in the game for the under 50 crowd. And it sounds like we're going to benefit from tradeskill content added in GoD (did Maddoc really say 700 new smithing recipies?! -DROOL)
And while I've yet to visit any of the Planes of Power - I feel I got my money's worth just by having access to POK and the bookstands. I read somewhere that around 70% of EQ players have at least one character in the high 60s. It may take me another year to join them, but I understand the economics of writing content to address the bulk of your customer base.

Natimbi is as far as they're going to get, however, since I believe you need to be level 50 before entering Qinimi.

You can also ride the boat from Nedaria's Landing (it docks on the far wharf). In fact, that's the method I use to travel there since I'm not sure how a person without levitation would board the shuttle in Natimbi (why couldn't they have added a small wharf to the camp?). However, the problem would then be for people who got on the Thorn of Tides when it was going from Abysmal into Natimbi and couldn't zone as a result.
Personally, I see nothing wrong with allowing low levels in Natimbi, as there might be legitimate reasons to allow them in zone. Foragers may want to visit there to get certain items, for instance.

The Magus in Natimbi is a few tents over from the Magus teleport destination spot. So you can get a port from the Magus in Nedaria's Landing, decide you really don't want to be in Natimbi, and run a few tents north to get a port back to the Landing.

I would agree to PoP flagging Natimbi and the rest of the content zones if the new forages needed for tradeskilling were available on the Queen of Thorns... and the new materials, tea, wheat, etc.

My lil druid was foraging in natimbi at lvl 48, and I can say, that I never trained anyone or agroed anything, but got trained a couple of times by lvl 60+ heh. If you want to fish and forage I would suggest to keep yourself invis
She couldn't zone in Qinimi at lvl 48, when I tried zoning in I would be put back to the Wayfarer camp. So it is zone restricted to a certain degree.
But aye if you are not lvl 60+ don't expect to get your hands on tradeskills stuff by hunting for it, our best luck is to farm the merchant and bazaar. And quite frankly at this time it's ridiculous, people are selling Taelosian Wheat for 1k, Taelosian Tea leaves for 500pp each. Not worth it in my opinion to make teas that are not even better then kaladim or qeynos. And even at 65+ the components drop so rarely it's not even funny.

Technically, if you are 55+ you can get the supplies in the zone. Since day 2 of GoD going live, I've been soloing there on my 57 Shaman (dinged and now 58) I have quite the collection of Hynid Blood, various quality hides, and all the other tradeskill goodies, except for the golem pieces. I have 1 of those but that was from vendor mining. When the recipes finally come out, if any appear to be decent, you can be sure I'll be making some of the stuff. Otherwise, it'll all be converted and handed in to get skills started for the prayer shawl. I have a GM in every tradeskill except for Tailoring on my various accounts (had 'em since before PoP's AAs) Back to the point. You CAN hunt in Natimbi at 55+, my only competition there is from level 65s and 55+ bards. Everyone else seems to be afraid because mobs hit so hard. Shaman can handle it, but you have to be very careful as mobs have very high resists. Malosini gets resisted approx 2 to 5 times on all mobs, but I can get Turgur's to stick without Malosini sometimes. You NEED the Malxx line to get shaman DoTs to stick as there is no innate resist modifier like druids/necros. 1x Epic, 1x Bane of Nife, 1x Anathema + melee and dogdog is usually enough to take down most mobs. The fierce cragwalker, nocs, and mastruq are a bit harder and will take more work plus can kill you fast even slowed. Just be careful there and you can do it.
EDIT: Just read Maddoc's post on level restricting Natimbi. I believe it could be level resitricted in the same way that Qinimi is, ie: someone below 46 attempts to ride the boat into Natimbi under 46 and gets ported onto the dock, much like someone pre-50 gets ported to the WF camp in Natimbi when trying to access Qinimi. If they try using the Magus in Nedaria, they get a "you are not powerful enough yet" type message, much like the PoT stone in PoK.Last edited by Ranguard; 02-22-2004, 03:56 PM.

I think he's implying that the boat code is a lot more disgusting than that of a normal zone, so that just putting that on there is a lot more complicated than expected.Somnabulist Meisekimu

Some of the LDoN items are nice, augments being some of them. What gets me is how poorly the level rec/req items below 50 compare to older drops that have no such restrictions. SOE would have me believe that a knife with +2 Wis/+5 sv vs cold is what all the level 45's are carrying around these days. I was in an adventure the other day with a drop that nobody would roll for, a shoulder item with +15 hp +15 mana and +7 to some saves.
