  • Bazaar log question

Anyone know of a utility where I can archive my bazaar log automatically, and have eq create a new one so it doesn't get incredibly huge?

If you learn to use the replace function in MSWord to insert tabs in place of common key words or symbols and then copy-past to Excel to delete columns or sort and copy-paste back, it's not too cumbersome to edit your logs. I'm pretty sure there is a parser out there but I'm not fond of them personally so I don't use one.

The best way is to rename you bzrlog every once in a while.

I personally rename my bzrlog after each night.
This allows you to sort the bzrlog by date created.

        1. open up the directory where you have your log files.
        . . (mine is E:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuest Trilogy)
        2. Find the file
        . . (mine is bzrlog_75_Marria.txt)
        3. Change its name.
        . . (i.e. bzrlog_169_Marria001.txt)

Just for knowledge, the name of the file is constructed as follows:
bzrlog_ (Server Number) _ (Character Name) .txt

If you rename it, EQ will just start a new one with the old name.

Thanks for that explanation, Builder. I've always wondered what that number was there for... never occurred to me it could be my server number. One mystery solved. =)

Thanks for the help. I do this manually already, but I was hoping to automate it. A good parser might actually help more than a backup utility, but I don't know the first thing about parsers.

My goal is to parse out names of players who buy high end items of various tradeskill combines. With this information, I can develop a list of class (or armor style), deity, race, etc. And offer my wares to these people when new tradeskills recipes become available, I get a nice item hunting, or upgrade a current item and need to sell it.

A big thanks to all of you for your help so far.
