  • Crab Traps at the bottom of the Abysmal Sea

There are boxes at the bottom of the sea that when opened will give you various lbs. of fish (1,2,5,7, and 10 I have seen so far), and possibly a useless fishing item (dagger, shoe). From what I have found is that there are four locations, and they always spawn at those locations. However, I haven't experimented with them much, so I don't know what their spawn timer is, how to trigger them, etc.

Included is a downloadable map that of the barrier of the zone (if anyone cares to try to search for more boxes), and the 4 locations, indicated in green.

    Enjoy, I hope this helps.

Do I just place this in my map folder?

Is it safe to overwrite what is there if it asks to do so?

If you have something with that name already in your map folder, and it has mapping information in it, try changing the number from 1 to 2 or 3.

EQ creates empty dummy files for the three (supposed to be) user editable maps, _1, _2, and _3. If windows asks you if you're sure you want to overwrite the map file, and the file *being overwritten* has a size of "0 bytes", then you should be fine. If its not zero, try renaming the newly downloaded map to one of the other endings (like abysmal_2.txt) and try again.

          j/k

Thank you for the map, I've saved it (renamed, of course) and I'll see how it goes next time I'm there.

I'd love to find these, but am loathe to downlaod any files given so many viruses, trojans, etc. out there.

Would some braver and more savvy soul share the loc's of the crab traps? Perty please?

Files ending in .TXT can't really transmit viruses. They're pure text. They don't execute any code on your machine.

Now, downloading any kinda of program,on the other hand......

I wonder what the cloth caps in the crab traps are supposed to be, though.

'Cloth cap' is the generic placeholder for broken/buggy/unimplemented items, see.

(Of course, that then makes me wonder what nuicenses in Shadeweavers should be dropping, too)

                  Returning to Nedaria

Thank You, it worked just fine for me.

Twice I found my self picked up by the boat returning to Nedaria.
I did /bug it for pathing over the one southern most Crab box I was checking when swept up.

From my observations, the crab traps are on about a 15 minute repop. There seem to be two types, "crab trap" and "battered crab trap". The regular crab traps have the saltwater crabs, rusty daggers, etc, and the battered usually have nothing.

Used the map to find the crab traps today but couldn't figure out how to open them or whatever you do with them. How do you open them or whatever?

Use the LDoN /open command, or set a hotkey to the "open" skill.

the thorn of tides is funny, I got a message zoning into abysmal today: "Looks like the boat has left without you, moving you to the dock..."

Such a good plan, I remember hell being unable to go to EFP-BB because the boat would zone in and out of those zones faster than I could zone in or out of them. zoning from OOT-OOT was soooo much fun!

                            Nedaria Landing Annoucements

Perhaps not alone, but had sent /feedback that while the Qeynos boat arrivals and depatures were announced. Thankful that Nexus Scions were not so silent about when they were ready to port.

I also wonder why the Landing didn't have the same convience. Often while hunting and saw the Tides arrive - would /ooc for those waiting to hurry and run out to the pier.

I think the Butcherblock boats had announcements briefly, but I haven't heard them in a loong time. Would be handy, in Butcherblock, Freeport, and the Landing. (the former two have translocators sometimes, but they are unspawned often enough that boat warnings would still be handy)

Hehe, GoD brings back the fun of /ooc "BOAT!"
