  • Trivials

I recall considerable debate about trivials above 250. Many people were convince there were values above 250. Others said that after 250 it was either easy (near 250), moderate, or hard.

As of today, it seems that SOE, at least, feels there are actual numbers for the trivials above 250. Congratulations to whomever was arguing that side.

Yeah I got a shock when I saw that the trivial for Ceremonial Solstice Robes was 335...

Misty Thicket Picnic Trivial = 335 also =)

Who wants to bet the Sickles are 335 too?

Do people who know the numbers (I'm not one of them) think that the 335 trivial value for CSRs is probably accurate given the success rate on them at high tailoring skills?
What I mean is, do you think a tailor at 250 skill would really have so many successful combines on an item that is trivial 85 above their current skill?

Upon consideration though, it probably makes little difference so long as they are fair indication relative difficulty of the non-trivial combine eg. it indicates if tempest robes are easier/harder than solstice robes, the actual trivial values being otherwise irrelevant.

I was also shocked by the 335 trvial on picnics, but I guess it explains the 50% success rate I usually manage when doing runs of 100. I'd rather be able to see a number that have to guess, though.

I also like that the UI shows modded skills, which confirms the 252 cap that everyone has known, but not seen in official print.

yield 4 and fail a little over 50%. using 50% to keep math simple you still get 2 picnics per combine.
i am so going to have to do a picnic run soon to check this out. trying to work on leveling, epic, and shawls. at 250 baking its kinda pointless to pretend i'm trying to skill for shawls baking anymore.

in a thread some place the formula for success was:

                % chance of success = MIN(0.95,(Skill-0.75*Trivial+51.5)/100)

                so skill = 252 and trivial = 335

                = (252 - 0.75 * 335 +51.5)/100 = 52.3% .. Case closed.

This is true only if the formula is correct. It was based on some nice data, but was only a guess as to what is really going on (unless that person had insider knowledge).

Some of our guesses have been way off, others have been right on. I spent a lot of time over at Fulcrum's when he was still active in the game, and we used to come up with and discard lots and lots of theories about tinkering (back when combines used to eat components if the recipe was wrong). It was part of the fun !
