Something I've not seen mentioned yet is the modded skill being shown on top of the tradeskill container. This also sets in stone the 252 skill cap.

    ---

So far, I'm liking it so far, making 120 CEs to make robes in about 3 minutes did thrill me as did making the swatches. Gem studded chains on the other hand, yeah, I want to die.

After you learn a recipe, you still have to add it manually to your list of favorites. Once you do that, it will show up by default.

I'll bet you had a geerlok equipped. The skill displayed in the tradeskill UI is not your raw skill, it's your effective skill after taking into account geerloks. Your raw skill was 143 -- this is what you would see if you opened your skills window. A geerlok gives you +5%, which makes your effective skill 150.15. EQ rounds down, so your effective skill was 150. The recipe you were making was trivial 147, so you got a skillup from 143 to 144 -- note that skillups depend on your raw skill, not your effective skill. So what you saw here probably wasn't a bug.

Have to agree with you about the "dumbing down" of the road to Grandmastery... and the pressure this may put on farming zones like Hollowshade...
BUT that topic has been done to death elsewhere *promptly bites tongue*
In my 20 minutes of playtime before tonight's patch, was most pleased to note that (1) Robe of Tears was added to my known recipes and (2) I got messages when I ran out of robe patterns so needed to go collect more =)

          I like it.

Was able to boost my baking from 205 to 213 last night in the amount of time it would have taken me to get to 207.

Search engine - nice, easy way to find what you're looking for, even with trivial filters

"Bookmark" or save - very nice. Great for skilling up.

I'm suprised as the low delay of the combine button - I was expecting about a 7-16 second delay to at least make it time consuming, but it is only 3-5 seconds.

The *only* drawbacks - in makng mistys, if I need to make dough, I need to find the recepie for the ONE egg I have, I'm sure while making celestial essence I'll get the same fustration (maybe a checkbox with "include only items I have ingredients for").

Other than that, I feel it's great.

Yeah, I like the new UI. I see myself having a nice list of favourite recipies to choose from shortly.

I do not really understand why there is a need for 'NeverLearn' recipies tho. I am willing to accept there is such need, but IHMO it should be a VERY limited list. So limited that it needs individual explanation of the need....

Also, I would suggest making learned recipies being auto-added to favourites as its apparently one thats being used by that particular player.

                Helloo there :>

A little helpful hint for those combines like CE and clumps of dough. Have only the egg, like basilisk, in your inventroy, then flip through the different choices. If you do have the egg in your inventory, it will show up as green in the recipe, if not it will be red. It can speed it up some, without having to hover over the egg to check the type. Just my 2 copper pieces worth. :>

                  Tanaan containers

Seems to be that at the moment if the combine you are trying can only be made in a Tanaan container, then you cannot learn it...

I have a skill of Zero in Tinkering yet I can see recipes up to 300+ trivials. When I look at tailoring or smithing I can not see recipes which were trivial 50+ skill levels below. I have not looked at baking, jewelcraft, or the others.

Smithing nothing over 188 fine steel was showing at 225 skill level
Tailoring nothing over 187 ribbons was showing at 235 skill level.
Tinkering was able to see Wok and Gnome Vanishing Device which have trivials at 302.

In an attempt to learn a few recipies that I often need, I combined a stack of each:

                      Ethereal Tempers
                      GLMs
                      KCs

                      MTPs

And didn't learn any of the recipies

I then had a guildie test it, and he learned all the recipies on first successful combine - and we are both GM bakers and GM brewers.

What he did find out when he went on to tailoring was, that he couldn't learn the recipies if he did the combines in PoK - where I had done all mine.

I can live with PoK being bugged, even though I do most of my TSing there. I can just learn the recipie in another zone, then do my combines in PoK. But how am I supposed to ever learn Ethereal Tempers? Or any other combines needing Tanaan containers?

I heard lots of Tanaan combines can be done in SH so maybe I will try to learn them there

Last night , my halfling couldn't learn the Jord Meat Pie recipe with a skill of 218 in either a collapsed spit or Tanaan oven. But this could be because the trivial is still more than fifty points above his current skill. Has anyone "learned" any low trivial PoP recipes?

Another option for some Tanaan combines is the collaspable containers, but they also might be "bugged" atm. I will try when I get back on after patch and sees what I can find out.

I wasn't able to learn anyting with "hero" in it, despite making a stack of the sandwiches. I'd be really curious to hear what the logic is behind the "can't learn" myself.

                                Love it with fletching!

I can confirm that for fletching, I could only see exactly 40 levels above my current (modified/unmodified) level.
Also, could not see any cultural arrows AT ALL, but have not yet attempted to see if canlearn flagged.

On a side note, I ABSOLUTELY fell in love with smithing last night as I was churning out Condensed shadow arrowheads like there was no tomorrow. 3 clicks! (combine, auto-inv. the arrowheads, auto-inv. the file) And no visible delay. It was almost perfectly 1 second (maybe 1.5) per full combine and auto-inv.
I can also confirm that they are "canlearn". Had to "experiment" once, got the "you have successfully learned" message, then was able to find in search.

I am one HAPPY Wood Elf!
