Is it possible to get a recipe that's far beyond your abilities listed? For example, could I get Acrylia Studded listed now at 164 skill (not way beyond me) or possibly Acrylia Reinforced once I trivial studded?

Or am I still drag-clicking to skill up?

After grumbling at my monitor for a while, I finally figured out that some of the recipes I was 'learning' just weren't showing up in the full recipe list.

For example, if I just used the 0 to 500 skill search defaults, none of the new Barbecued Crab recipes that I had made showed up on the list. However, if i search by keyword Crab ... there the were!

At least Celestial Essence works in my collapsible mortar! Thank goodness!

Vale Sewing Kit however, doesn't show any of the pre-haversack tuft combines, even after making a few.

What about those of us who are already GM in tradeskills, who don't want to have to go back and remake every single combine, just to learn that the silly thing won't learn what we have painstakingly recreated?

I'd like to offer a suggestion. If you(your character) is:
            1)250 GrandMaster in the skill
2)GM Trophy in that skill is in your hand

Then, All recipes in that field show up! I mean, if you allowed it to go to 300, 400, 500, I'd have it, but I'm at my max skill here (252), I would think that a GrandMaster in whatever would know all the lesser parts of his/her craft. I mean, where's the acrylia studded/reinforced? Ice Silk? Velious leathers?
Anything useful for a GM? /sigh.

Now I get to go to EQUI interface and learn what new XML I need to patch into my custom inventory interface to enable the new UI, cause right clicking on the inventory slots ain't working, so there must be a bit of code my custom inventory is now missing.

              Alchemy potions...

              200 Alchemy GM with trophy.
              250 Brewing GM with trophy.

I was able to learn Grobb pretty quickly, within 1-2 "experiments."

Tried with Blood of the Wolf and Ants Potion.
Made 4 10-dosers of each one.
Still not listed in the Recipe List.

So, I guess you can probably scratch these two from the "learnable list" unless you have to make a few dozen of them in order to "learn" it.

                one more time:

                1. Recipe's marked AutoLearn in the database will automatically show up when you have a skill >= (trivial - 50) and you perform a search which the recipe matches.

                2. Searches can only return 100 recipes. If a recipe is not being found, and you know it's AutoLearn, then restrict your search by limiting the trivial's involved, or entering part of the name of the recipe (usually the name of the item created). Note that there's a text message displayed in chat when you hit 100 recipes on a search, telling you this.

                3. Recipe's marked CanLearn in the database will not show up in the recipe list until you perform one successful combine of that recipe in the old interface (experiment). After you have been notified that you've learned the recipe, you can then search for it in the new UI, and use it to perform combines. If you successfully perform a recipe combine in the old UI and don't get the "you have learned" message, then you either already have the recipe due to it being AutoLearn and within range of yoiur skill, or it is not marked CanLearn (for now, that may change later, of course, but then you'll have to "learn" it after it's changed).

So, if you tried it in Experiment mode and were successful, but didn't learn it, then check again to see if you can search for it by name (it might be autolearn). if not, then you can't learn it right now.

                4. Marking said recipes AutoLearn and CanLearn is a work in progress. A lot of recipes can (and probably will) get marked as one or the other in the near future.

                5. All data about what recipes you "know" is stored on the server, as is the recipe data. You can't find it on your client side... it's not there.

                6. Some people want to switch the Right-click/Ctrl-right-click functionality of Tradeskill containers. Just click the "Use CtrlRClick" button on the new UI, and regular right-click will open the container in the old, bag-style; you'll have to Ctrl-right-click the bag to bring it up in the new UI.

Hope that helps. I won't be responding to requests for this recipe or that to be marked CanLearn/AutoLearn. I don't do the marking, I don't make the decisions. I would suggest compiling a list here on EQTraders somewhere and submitting it through Niami after a while.

What I noticed with just messing around a bit was you won't learn a new recipe unless you are succesful. A friend asked me for a Baking Geerlok and I found that it wasn't listed. I 'experimented' once and failed. Still wasn't listed. Two more attempts, second one succeeded and now the recipe was listed. So either you need to succeed to 'learn' it or it just takes more than one attempt to 'learn' it. I'm guessing you need to succeed, would make more sense.

One other thing I noticed, but fergot to post earlier. It seems there is a limit on the number of favorite recipes. And this limit goes for all TS containers. Meaning this:Lets say the magical number is 20, you can have all 20 in say baking, or you can have 10 in baking, 4 in smithing, and 6 in tailoring. I hope this limit is either raised or at least make it a certain number of recipes for each trade. I do not know what the magic number is, but it does seem roughly around 20.

                      Will you ever learn it?

I happily ran to a trade skill container first thing today to try out the new UI. Trophy and GM baking skill under my belt I "learned" MTP baskets on my first try. (And then about had a heart attack when I saw the trivial level). Then went on to Hero sandwiches but they never seemed to show up. Even the "mini" combines like the smoked and spiced parts. I did several of them (successfully) and never got the message that I had learned any of the pieces. So does this mean that there are recipes that you will never learn ?

So, if you tried it in Experiment mode and were successful, but didn't learn it, then check again to see if you can search for it by name (it might be autolearn). if not, then you can't learn it right now.

Well, well, only Fish oil is listed in the search engine in Fishing at 168 in skill, fishing lure are so unpopular...I guess I will still have to look for exact trivial until next patch /shrug
Along with that, there are some '"feature" that can show you the list of subcombine in tradeskill you shouldnt be able to learn (Tinkering, Alchemy...) with the proper race.
/Bugged that, but I guess most have already did that

GM in alchemy... I can't find the Blood of the Wolf in search. I have made over 40 of the potions, and it still does not show up on the search. They triv about 37.

But on other combines that I have never attempted before, they show up on the search, like Potion of Shadeweaver.. triv 170.

I'm gonna give them sometime until they work out the bugs.

I enjoy the new UI. I use poison quite a bit and it saves me a ton of time doing bite of the shissar. Which trivials at 322 and was simply listed in the search. Finding the scent of marr version for celestial essences took me forever, heh. After that I did a few combines and made up a couple 10 dose. Its a pop recipe and trivials way over 250. So I think certain things were specifically targetted.

Additionally I'm curious as to know if anyone has tried doing combines in a tradeskill kit with tradeskill / non tradeskill / stacked / etc, items in it, as they arent shown with the new UI open.

Was making celestial essences with the components stacked in the mortar and pestle... and it definately works!

Major problems and expoits with new UI with a twist of rant

                                Hello,

Living in Australia gave me the chance to jump into the game at 7 am my time. Fishing in the oh so lovely Gulf of Gulthak - i tried to finish my fishing skill levels - however, grrrrrrrrrrrr after 10 broken poles - must be tough fish - i headed to PoK to bake.

Being about 20 in smithing and needing a pot, skewer, dairy spoon, and frying pan - i set out to make a couple and test the new UI.

I wanted to eat just one Grilled Eel (Love smoked eel sushi in RL - dont cringe till you try it), try a Sea urchin Soup, and grill some gunthak gour---- (whatever).

I found 3 exploits/mistakes. First, if you have stuff in the container you can still use it to combine under the new UI - if you switch to the old UI however you have to remove the item. Also it seems the UI wont id items in other combinable UIs in your INV. Secondly, there are a LARGE amount of recipes missing. I did notice you "learned a recipe" sentence when finally combining something the old way. However, it never ends up in your list under the new UI - I still had to search for it. Lastly, and most IMPORTANT I was at level 150 baking making items at 147 tvl when i received msgs to say i increased my skill to 144 baking and my character went up to 151. Now i wasnt trying to exploit the problem but i wanted to finish. This happened 4 different times and not only with baking but smithing as well.

Now i have only started playing a month ago, and yes my right hand especially the right hand pointer finger are swollen from constant clicking and dragging. My one rant here is SOE made EQ for the lazy. I told a guy about the pottery forums master in 100p in 4 hours ... I then watched him go from 60 to 122 in 15 minutes. Come on give me a break. Now everyone can be perfect and get a 200-250 on their tradeskill with a couple of hundred clicks. This means two MAJOR problems for me - 1) the excessive amounts of low end items on the market or not will lower prices as ppl over compete or simple under purchase and 2) is it now worth my effort to do a combine on most things when someone can do it themselves like the above - lower incomes and less incentives for tradeskills here we come.

I will put this to the sksptics - Handmade backpacks are not a high trvl but are a lucrative money maker - have a friend been selling for over a year now. What happens if ppl realize they just have to port in port out to get items - then the UI combines them auto like. Sorry but i think this new UI is a mistake - make ppl work for it - there are some like me that will do it cause the money is good if patient. SOE is changing it so everyone can including the slash and bash crowds we sell to.

I look forward to your responses - BTW I notified SOE immediately upon noticing the exploits. Just so no one accuses me of cheating. Also i believe in sharing this information. If too few people know then it can be taken advantage of without SOE fixing it. If too many people know and try it then SOE has to fix it. BTW I announced i had found exploits in an /ooc in PoK - I made a few instant friends so there are ppl out there that dont want to just enjoy the game and get a leg up.

Sorry so long - I spent an hour or so testing it out.

BTW Sea Urchin Soup and Grilled Eel Rock lol - So does killing a Frost Giant and using my new tag "Kill em Skin em Eat em Wear em then crush their bones to Mend" Muhahhahahahah.

TY VM for listening and GL and GH

                                ~{Moderator note: I moved this here to reduce clutter and because it more properly belonged here. I decided to leave the poll in place as well. Lothay}
