  • A Tiny Bit of GoD Tradeskill Information

Well, the NDA has been lifted... and I left my notes at home.

But you don't want a lot of information just handed to you... you would prefer exploring for yourself -- wouldn't you?

The first GoD zone, the Abysmal Sea, has the giant city ship, the Queen of Thorns. You can use the porters at the Wayfarer camps to get to Nedaria's Landing and take a boat to the Abysmal Sea. Druids and wizards get port spells to the second zone, Natimbi - The Broken Shores, and a Wayfarer Scout will send you to the Abysmal Sea.

The Queen of Thorns has NPC merchants for the usual tradeskill supplies. Use the Find command to locate them. The ship is safe for all levels with only a few creatures in the water that you can hunt for quest items. The merchants have some tradeskill quests and are looking for stuff to make new items.

For example, the jewelcraft merchants talk about new gems and ask you to find samples for them and will tell you how to craft items with the gems. Some merchants need help in making items to finish the ship and ask you to make things for them in exchange for information.

You will find looms, kilns, pottery wheels, brew barrels, and forges on the ship. There seems to be new recipes and raw materials for every tradeskill.

If you talk to the crew members, they will tell you the background information... why the ship is named the Queen of Thorns, etc.

I'm sorry I don't have a lot of detailed information on GoD. I turned out to be a poor beta tester. My dial-up connection made the constant patching into a real pain and my system didn't handle the DirectX 9 graphics very well (I heard the developers had a debugging function turned on, which was really affecting graphic performance).

Let me try to explain how to find GoD.

In the beta, you needed to travel to Nedaria's Landing first.

You would use the port gem in Surefall Glade (#9 on the EQAtlas map) to reach Jaggedpine Forest (or the port gem in Black Burrow):

      http://www.eqatlas.com/surefallglademap.html

From the zone-in, go west to the zone wall and follow it south to the Brell gnoll cave (I think everyone starts out indifferent to the Brell gnolls). Go through the cave, past the Oracle Jaarl, to the "blocked tunnel" on the EQAtlas map to zone into Nedaria's Landing. Head northwest to the river and follow the river west to the docks (watch out for the cliff!).

In the beta, a Wayfarer scout would port you to other wayfarer camps or to the Abysmal Sea and Natimbi - The Broken Shores. I understand there's now a boat that takes you to the Abysmal Sea.

You can use a Wayfarer Magus to reach Nedaria's Landing directly (in the beta, my druid would use the South Ro camp since not all the Magus would port you directly to Nedaria's Landing).

Druids get a self-port to Natimbi at 52nd level and a group port at 54th level. The port takes you to a safe camp in Natimbi where you can ask a Wayfarer Scout to send you to the Abysmal Sea or Nedaria's Landing. I don't know where the spells are sold... beta characters got all their class spells. There are spell merchants and guild trainers for every class on the Queen of Thorns. In the beta, the Find button was great for locating these NPCs. Oh, there's also a bank... btw, a new button on the banking window automatically changes copper, silver, etc. coins to the appropriate amount of platinum.

On the Queen of Thorns, there's a Wayfarer Scout near the zone-in spot who can send you to Nedaria's Landing or Natimbi. (Warning... early in the beta, the Natimbi zone-in spot was in a different location and guards would instantly attack you. I don't know if they changed the scout's zone-in spot to the safe camp area).

Natimbi - The Broken Shores is an outdoor zone. You can hunt creatures for hides for new tailored armor, meat for new baked goods, and other mobs for additional new tradeskill items.

There is a new metal for smithing and tinkering and gems for jewelcrafting, etc.

EDIT: actually, Brody was mostly right -- the Magus in Nedaril'ls will port you to Natimbi now.

The Thorn of Tides is a shuttle that will take you from Nedari’s Landing to Abysmal Sea. Once you reach Abysmal Sea, you will disembark onto a large floating city.
When the shuttle is on the East side of the Abysmal docks, it takes you back to Nedari’s Landing. From the West side of the docks, the shuttle takes you to Natimbi, the Broken Shores.

The port takes you to a safe camp in Natimbi where you can ask a Wayfarer Scout to send you to the Abysmal Sea or Nedaria's Landing.
No longer true. The Scout has been removed.
Also, the Natimbi camp is relatively safe. No mobs path thru it. But there are many mobs nearby, and they are often pulled into the camp. I wouldn't recommend long AFKs.

On the Queen of Thorns, there's a Wayfarer Scout near the zone-in spot who can send you to Nedaria's Landing or Natimbi.
No longer true. You must go by shuttle now (see above).

EVERY tradeskill except fishing has 2 new items.

Every tradeskill (except fishing) has a little quest that will get you to about 52 in that tradeskill by the time you complete it

Abysmall Sea will be spam central!!!

Seems to me that tradeskills are one of the new plat-sinks they were looking for. They seem to be trying to get as many people started as they can.
