I just don't want you all to run out and expect another set of shawl quests, then come to my house and beat the snot out of me when they aren't that sort of quest.

Bah... More stuff for new folks? :-(

I miss the shawls, and the solstice quest. One day, I'll get more than basic flags, and might get started on step one of Grimmel. But in the mean time, I wish we'd see another major tradeskill quest.

One thing I didn't like about the Phylactery is that you had to do the major raid work to do the tradeskill portion of the quest. If they had made the Robe/Tunic the reward for raiding and turning in the books, and the Phylactery the reward for collecting the components and combining, that would have been cool.

But as it is, I can't see raiding Velk and Aramin to do a tradeskill quest, and most of my quest probably wouldn't either.

I think most of us would be pretty defenseless against the guy wielding the nerf bat!

Well, I would however like to admit my agreement to wanting more shawl type quests that do not require raiding, but might be difficult solo. What about the possibility even, of a LDoN type instanced zone for only one person for doing some new quests, forcing you to do it alone, without outside help, and not requiring a large raiding guild.

If I can ask Absor, any chance you will ever take a look at all the quests and drop some hints if they have as yet been unsolved?

Ok, I won't expect any "shawl" or "Solstice" quests with the release of Discord, but might I humbly suggest that there be released later such a one, after the initial bonk-a-bug game is over with Discord?

The tradeskilling guildmates and friends I have talked with like to wear the pieces they made with pride. Most have said that they are never ever, ever taking off their 8th shawls, no matter what uber-raid shoulder drop comes their way. That's the beauty of a quest like the 8th shawl (though there should have been 10! )You just don't get the same feeling of attachment to say, an Ancient Burrower Hide Tunic. Sure the latter is a nice drop, but if something else came along with better stats, it would go into bank or be deleted.

Most avid tradeskillers I know aren't in the top 3 guilds on the server, with maxed AA's and 3 pieces from gods for every slot, and I think the consensus on these boards bears that out. Not always, but mostly, intense raiding and intense tradeskilling don't go hand in hand. So we love things like the 8th shawl, but not things like Aid Grimel. Might there be something in the works in the far, far, far away future (for disclaimers' sake) for lovers of the 8th shawl type quests for more gear slots?

I would LOVE to have every slot filled with gear (make it all NO DROP, I don't mind) that I personally made myself, and not feel underdressed when raiding alongside people with only raid drops for gear. Might never happen, but I can always hope!

Well, technically you could "make" youself equivalent raid gear with LDoN points

I just don't get it the 8th shawl was the best quest EQ ever had. Why won't they do another one like it? It's the perfect quest for the avaerage Joe. For a item that you would actually use for most if not all of your EQ career.

What could be fantastic could be a series of quests where the result would be a higher mod item.

Could be Aid Grimel or 8th shawl style, but where the items are available to all (not easy to get or common drop necessarily but don't require flagging). It could be built on each other or independant of each other.

When you complete the smithing step say, you get a smithing mod item that is higher than geerlok. It doesn't have to be higher than some of the Luclin drops but higher.....say 8%.

Anyway can't wait to see the new quests!

I could easily live without another shawl type quest (not that I didn't like it, I'd love one if it came along) but getting a solstice level/type quest would be nice.

Maybe something geared towards the meleeing crowd this time? A lot of the tradeskill quests seem very geared towards casters. It would be nice to see a decent item (that doesn't also require like 10+ flags and 40 close friends to farm with) for the lower end melees.

more classes with mana than without.

breakdown should be for best benefit something like this
pure caster maybe pure int and pure wis seperate
                        pure melee
                        hybrid

where they all get slighty different items. more hp and no mana on pure melee. more mana than hp on pure caster. higher int wis on pure caster than hybrid but extra str, agi, and dex. highest str, agi, and dex on pure melee.

that would require three seperate quests though unless it started like the shawl quest and you had the captain's burlap shawl, arcane burlap shawl, holy burlap shawl, and (something hybrid sounding) burlap shawl. given out by class from the toes portion and then all other steps the same. would be harder to make though but i would like it.

I didn't say pure melee. I said for meleeing classes which is a lot more than just warrior, monk and rogue. Which I admit is not as many people as just classes with mana, but then take for instance the Oracle quest. Fat lot of good doing it would do a melee or hybrid (bet the ones who did it before the reward was known were real happy at the end of that quest). Err, I should probably edit in here that what I mean is that the reward for priest and wizard classes is nicer. A +5 hp regen item with +50 hps and -10 sta isn't something I'd invest that much time in getting as a paladin, it's not an item I'd treasure as the shawl or solstice. In terms of trade skill quests there's more caster orientation.

I'd just as easily like to see other nice effects on tradeskill quest items. I mean how many shawl/earring clones can you put in before it gets sort of tired? "Oh look, it's a new tradeskill quest with an unknown reward - more mana regen guys". The mana regen is useful yes, but it would be nice to see other effects too, effects you wouldn't usually see on items like that. Limiting ourselves with "why can't we get more mana regen tradeskill quests" is probably only going to take us too far. Plus I like having variety, it's rarely a bad thing.

                            /em wants a tradeskill cape.
i would prefer visible and red. i am superman. can give it haste instead of ft as long as it still has some caster stats. a no mana/int/wis item with haste better have a lot of hp to still make us paper wizards happy.
