One of the things that really makes me very willing to lower my prices when selling to true newbies is a memory I have of nearly 4 years ago when I was buying a raw silk cloak (I was so proud) and I paid 2pp without question, then I had the sickening feeling I'd been ripped off, because that 2pp had taken me at least 10 hours to get.

Of course, now that you get spiderling silk prices of 5pp per silk, there isn't such a real newbie cash flow problem, so excuse my little trip down memory lane.

I am lucky enough to have a bot forager (lvl 49 druid) who has a forage of 200, but if I wasn't, wow, I'd be paying out the wazoo for forages. Some of the prices are crazy. Then again, I can understand putting such a high premium on your time, so ... charge what the market will bear, and don't worry about ripping people off. If they find your prices so objectionable, let them spend 2 hours in Lesser Faydark trying to forage morning dew, or whatever.

Something else to consider with the original example is availability. Compare prices at a grocery store versus a convenience store. Grocery stores will virtually always have better prices, but convenience stores are usually open longer, and found in more locations. Driving to work, I go by one grocery store, and six convenience stores.

I keep a trader mule up as close to 24/7 as I can. I was selling foraged mushrooms for 10pp, while most others sold them for 1-2pp. Was I price gouging? No. I was aiming at those buyer who wanted a faster and more convenient, but more expensive skill up route. Even at 10pp for mushrooms, ohbadah truffles are a very cheap and easy skill up route. I've sold a bunch of brown algea in the bazaar as a convenience. Sure, anyone who hasn't ruined their othmir faction can go to CS, and buy it, but for many, thats a bothersome trip. Anyone can make celestial essense (no fail combine), but I've sold lots of that too.

I've found that I can sell many items for more if I just hold onto them and keep my higher price. Eventually, someone buys it, or I slowly drop my price until someone does. Supply and demand at its finest.
