  • Have you a superstition when you do combines?

    Do you?

Prior to my making 250, I would never do any combines unless I was in Shadow Haven when I was doing my skillup runs. For some reason it seemed that I did better for skillups in SH than any other zones.

Superstitious I know but I had too many bad runs of items outside of SH

Where do you like to do your combines?

I refused to click Haversacks anywhere but Thurg after I failed 4 in RV, after I made the threads. 2 of the four failures were for a great friend of mine, who got my bags because I felt bad..... after the forth, I refused to ever click a bag anywhere but Thurg (where I got most of the tufts).

....then it happened, I failed one in Thurg..... then another..... then I moved to the Baz and clicked em there, since that's where I started to get the tufts =)

But now, I care not where I click.... as long as it's not in RV, that place is cursed.

Don't be encumbered, encumbrance makes you clumsy and you might fumble.

Wisdom (ranger) as high as possible at the cost of any and all other stats.

Check twice, click once. Wrong recipes no longer eat the ingredients, but I've never gotten a skill up after I've clicked on a DNC.

Have as few people in the zone with you as possible. Lag hurts your chances of success. I do a lot of tradeskiling in Freeport, its amazing how these once extremely busy zones are now pretty much deserted.

LOL. At one point I was totally convinced that I would get faster baking skillups if I did them in a spit while swimming in the Nexus pool in Shadow Haven! ... Hey, it seemed to work for me at the time.

Place items in the container in 'recipe order.' (for successes).

In 'non recipe order' (for skill ups).

            Avoid small batches (generally).

            Anyway, those are mine

I always sacrafice (kill) one each; elf, human, and dwarf to Rallos Zek before any important smithing combines. Always have and always will.

I always get all my combines ready and sorted out so I can click them as fast as possible. That way the RNG gets tired of me making it work hard and will give me skill ups so I stop and it gets to sleep

Also I prefer to make haversacks in Rivervale (and get a better success rate) since they are halflign only they must be made there to appease Karana!

If I'm not getting skillups in a timely manner, I usually log out and right back on. Silly I know, but I have this crazy idea that it resets my spot in the RNG and gives me a better chance.

I also have any friends that are on do the skillup dance for me /nod

I always buff dex and agility. I know that they are not supposed to matter toward success - but I swear they do.

I try to do my tradeskills in the zone that has the least amount of lag, so things run faster. Or in some cases, where things are the most readily accessable, so it's the most convenient.

                            Two superstitions:

                            1. Always fill the top slots in the tradeskill container for more skillups and successes.

                            2. I seem to get more skillups at the start of a session, so if I have a dry run on skillups, I go do something else (e.g. swimming) for 5-10 minutes and then "begin" another session.

well.. someone once told me not to put the items in the forge/wheel/kiln/whatever in exactly the same slots in exactly the same order. they said that sony's systems watched for that sort of thing to make sure it wasn't a 'bot or macro just running automated training. if it saw you were repeating yourself over and over you wouldn't get a skillup. i don't know if it's superstition or not but i try to vary where i drop the things in. honestly can't say i've seen anything to prove or disprove this fact although it "makes sense."
