If I ever get pains from doing to much tradeskills I will take a break.

Not the perfect solution but it at least helps.

I found the exercises here help provide some relief not just after tradeskilling but after any long session at the PC, EQ or otherwise. I found that site just surfing around reading up on carpal tunnel. I don't quite understand number 6 but the rest feel great.

Advil, lots of water, good support for your arms, taking breaks, don't sleep with your hands/finger over extended or bunched up into fists.

Best way to avoid injuring yourself while doing tradeskill combines is to not do marathon tradeskill sessions.

I use an empty IBC rootbeer bottle on the control key

Its the perfect height for a Microsoft natural keyboard.

I've found a penny works well to hold down the control key.. just stick it in the keyboard next to the ctrl key and click away. (I tried the tape thing and could never get it to work right..)

The best thing is to take breaks, and don't do marathon sessions. I know they're seductive, and I've done my share of them.

Personaly I believe you shouldn't have to beat the "Aches and pains" of gaming. Sure there should be some stress involved with gaming, but the fact that SoE almost requires all 1750 TS'ers to have carpal tunnel or some other malfunction with the wrist because of the sheer amount of clicks is just insane.

SoE should make tradeskilling into a macroable system WITHIN the works. IE in game you would only hit "Combine" once forhowever many of an item you have the needed components for. and depending on the item and the component count it would take X amount of time to finish, there no clicking no wrist troubles.

I have to say, with that being said, I do non afk macroing for tradeskills. for several reasons but the 1st and most drastic is I have had surgery to fix carpal tunnel in my right wrist. The excessive clicking almost made me need to have a 2nd surgery.

So with that being said, I sugest that most all tradeskillers {name of specific macro-ing tool removed -- don't post names or links to items that can violate the EULA - Lothay} and mess around with it so that you too cannot go through the pain that I did of having surgery.

this is a game. Not a marathon.

I agree that some sort of change to reduce the number of clicks is a good idea. This has been dicscussed on this board many times. I won't go so far as to endorse add on programs.

Look on the bright side: there was a time when shift-click, and ctrl-click didn't exist. To make 1 arrow (not a bundle of 5) it took something like 57 clicks, and that was only if you kept your fletching kit in the top inventory spot so all purchases went there directly.
