I am done with Baking now, I bought 800 justice fruits in bazaar over a couple of days, and in all probability they were mostly from forage Bots.

But since they made my skilling up easy by supplying large amounts components at a lowish price, Thanks forage bots, keep up the good work.

I got about 12-13 skill ups per 10 stacks of fruits btw, nice fast way to skill up. (unless you are poor )

Justice fruit, without a doubt. Skilling up on these was 100x easier than MTPs.

Plant shoots were also a good one for me, I bought a lot of those

I think they ought to have an improved forage AA that decreases the time between clicks.

Also how do you map a macro onto a movement key? (the legal macros hehe)

Piece of cake. Set one of your hotkeys as your forage. Mine is 9, and 10 is autoinventory. Click on the options icon. Click on the keyboard tab. Click on Macros. Then, whichever hotkey number you have your forage set up as, click on the number in the list, then push the movement key of your choice to set it to.

Voila. You have mapped your foraging to your movement.

            Good forages.

Justice fruit are a frequent forage in PoJ. Sell the foraged cockroaches as well.

            Oak bark foraged in Kithicor.

Tufts of Dire Wolf. Several zones.

Yew leaves in Wakening Lands. Rare forage but can sell for 200pp or more.

In SWG, the macro system was sophisticated enough that you could set up a loop. Surveying for resources is pretty much equivalent to EQ foraging, so setting up a survey loop was quite common.

They defeated this by allowing the occasional survey to turn up something "special" (about every 15- 45 minutes or so), at which point, a pop-up box appeared, asking you a question. And halting the macro until you responded.

That something "special" wasn't that special at all. However, it ended the ability to Survey for very long while afk, yet allowed people who were at the keyboard to use the macro feature. Quite clever.

Edited note - btw, it doesn't make sense for trade skillers to give foragers a hard time, if all they want to do is add to the supply. It will drive the prices down. Adding to the supply only hurts other foragers, by driving prices down.

I'll agree to this to an extent. I think the problem that most folks that forage items to sell have is when there is a sudden influx of a rare forage item into the Bazaar. The Dragon Egg example above is such an influx. Honestly, seeing that many eggs on one trader would raise my eyebrow BIG TIME. This holds true for any items you frequently sell and/or buy for tradeskills.

On Sol Ro, there have been impossible waves of varying tradeskill items into the Bazaar that have made many folks wonder if there was a duping bug running around again. First, it was hundreds of Yew Leaves on a few traders. Then it was Iron Oxide. Then came Branches of Planar Oak, Justice Fruit, Hero Parts, Dragon Eggs (here too) and finally Tufts of Dire Wolf Fur.

This was over the course of just 2 weeks. A handful of traders all with hundreds of these items up for sale at prices that wound up so low that folks were either forced to sell at those prices too or just give up selling them alltogether. Please note, this is NOT a supply vs. demand issue on pricing. Just an observation and a clear indication that somehow, something is obviously not quite right for one trader, let along half a dozen, to have that many rare forages for sale all at once.

So it's either a new dupe bug or more likely, someone with illegal macro's set up. I truly wish SOE would show at least a fraction of intellect and listen to players when they report such things. The amount of hacks, cheats and scams going on in Norrath is simply an unfair advantage to honest players looking for fun.

So DeDanaan, there are more than just a few folks here that do not condone the method you are using for foraging. Yes, I'm sure you're helping players out there that want massive numbers of items for combines and skillups. But, let's just say that if you were on my server and I noticed massive numbers of rare forages on your trader I'd be reporting you faster than you can drop a Fishing Grub on the ground.

All heartfelt advice aside, to answer your question (and to add to the suggestions above) here are my suggestions for items that are always needed and a good constant source of income:

                  Small pieces of Velium
                  Small pieces of Acrylia
                  Heavy Clay
                  Tae Ew Blood
                  Leming Fur
                  Gargoyle Granite

                    First:

Forage Plains roots in West Commons. Human tailors need them, and they are NEVER for sale. Can farm pelts, silks, DE smithing supplies (from shadowed men) and the occasional hill giant while doing so.

BTW on the hundreds of items for sale too cheap, when you see this, try to find the merchant and buy from them. I know that there USED to be a bug, where you could put an item for sale, and then remove it from your satchel, but the price would still show in /baz. However, when you went to buy from them, the item was greyed out, and you could not purchase it.

Some people would do this, to drive the average price of that item down, then buy up more supplies for their own skilling.

Now onto the "Botting or Macroing" of Foraging... Attended Macro'ing is fine by the EULA last I read it. That means game pad or other attended Macros. So as long as you are not at work, asleep or otherwise away from the computer for very long you are fine to use the game pad or what have you. What will get you banned is the use of said items when not there.

IF any SOE employees could clarify this or let me know if I read the EULA wrong please do.

It depends on where you forage. Foraging in the Temple of Veeshan gets you a lot more Dragon Eggs than foraging them in, say, Skyshrine or Western Wastes.

when my guild did ntov for a month straight i had well over 10 stacks of dragon and at least 15-20 stacks of drake eggs, but thats just me im a compulsive forager,

Another good zone is PoJ the only forage you cant sell is pods of water, the bread crumbs sell well, Justice fruit sell well and cockroaches sell well

LOY dyes the bamboo shoots (SB), plains roots (commons), and ashweed (lavastorm) those are the best sellers from higher trivs and the fact they make better robes
and that was another zone (PoJ) when i camp Dr for my sword i walk out with 1-2 stacks of each item so one person with alot of something up might be somebody who held onto it for awile but to see 100+ yew leaves at once would most certainly get a red flag from me those are disgustingly irritating to forage and to check for as groundspawns

                                Forages I'd Like

I'm on Mith Marr where inflation is incredible because vast amounts of platinum were introduced by people using macro bots to create and sell tradeskill items for a small profit margin. In the grand scheme of things, the forage bots are far less damaging than the platinum bots.

SoE is also not doing much about it. There was a cleric/enchanter duo in the Guard camp in Sebilis for OVER 8 MONTHS who were bots. Despite the fact that people petitioned them repeatedly, SoE finally nerfed the gem drops in the guard camp to try and solve the problem, rather than suspending or banning the duo. I have never been tempted to grief someone in my years playing EQ, except for that **** guard duo.

The economy on Mith Marr will probably not settle for a while, because there are a lot of very rich people there. There are some very legal ways to make lots of money (a friend who 4-boxes in Sol Ro makes thousands by selling the ornate drops, for instance) and forage lots of items too, so you can't automatically assume that people with large stacks of forages are macro users.

In the meantime, forage and sell the following items:

                                No level requirements:
                                Cinnamon Sticks
                                Tea Leaves
                                Mushrooms
                                Bamboo Shoots
                                Plant Shoots
                                Drake Eggs
                                Dragon Eggs
                                Honey Berry

                                Cockroaches

                                Phoenix Eggs

                                Requires LDoN:
                                Gargoyle Granite
