This prolly was covered in the main boards but for the sake of anyone stopping here now...could someone explain how to autojoin channels? Say, a couple of regular ones, then a serverwide one. Someone explained it to me in the game but I can't remember where I scribbled it down. -_-

Okay say you want to autojoin three channels. The first is the serverwide eqtraders one. The second is your server's tradeskill community called "tradeskills" that doesn't have a password. The third is for you and your server friends, called "greenbeans" and with a creative password of "password". Let's say you're on the server Karana. Log in and type:

      /autojoin serverwide.eqtraders,karana.tradeskills,karana.gre enbeansassword

You will not immediately join those channels after using the /autojoin command. Autojoining only happens as you log in, so you'll have to either join them manually or log off and back on in order to join.

Note that in order to join a channel that belongs to a specific server (one that isn't serverwide) does NOT require you to actually be on that server. Anyone can join any channel based on any server, as long as they know the server name, channel name, and password if any. Heck you could be on the Karana server and make your channel with all your Karana buddies "brell.greenbeans" and still all be able to get into it just fine. Not that there's any good reason to do such a thing, but it can be done.

Nope, no password. Sometimes the channels get buggy and will tell you that you have the incorrect password, but that's just the bugginess talking.

Actually, if NO ONE was on the channel, and someone signs on using syntax that indicates a password, then the channel is set up using a password.

Also, there is a bug with the EQIM that causes a similar problem, which can be fixed by having the EQIM users turn off the 'use exclusively' check box. I'm not sure where this check box IS, as I don't USE EQIM, but the chat my RL friends use on EQ was recently locked up due to this one.

              Small reminder...

If you join serverwide.eqtraders with a password, a LOT of people will hate your guts...

But besides that point, you do not need to put the server name in front of the channel name if the channel you are joining is on the same server. Using the example Verdandi gave, if you were on the karana server, you don't have to put "karana." in front of the channel name to join that channel. You would only have to do that if you play on multiple servers and wanted to stay on that channel on a different character elsewhere.

To talk in any channel you simply type "/*channel number* *Your message*" - dropping the quotes and the asterisks.

                    *grin*

                    Hiya all,

                    The thing is very nice...

However it have 1 major flaw...

I join the channel today, all happy. Then a moron from another server join the channel and start spamming it, quickly followed by others morons...

My ignore list is already full and I certainly don`t care enought to clean it to get smeone from another server on my ignore :P

Result: I just leave the channel.

*hug* I would love to hang around on the channel often and all, but if a moron just spam me, I will not hesitate to leave it.

Someone spamming should be kicked out and be placed a banned on his name if this can be done and if you care enought, if not, np, you only miss the crankiest chanter, no big lost! :P

I don`t care he would sell his mom, his mom is not on my server! :P

Of course I could work out, but from someone that turn OOC, AUCTION and SHOUT off then report/petition at first offense, I am unlikely to work some tolerance, I don`t have to be tolerant to those that are just rude, I am more then happy to hunt and petition or report them, was my first cross server report :P

Yup yup, this is minor and VI don`t care much, yet the spammer get a report and he goes against VI legislation by spamming me :P so the day VI want to kick him for any reason, they have some data on him. :P

Enought of cranky evil and nasty me :P Have a nice day all, I would just love to share the channel with you without having to spend 1 effort for these jerks, yet they make me write here so they kinda succeed even if I don`t want to admit it. :P

Alternatively you can use the chat char ";" semicolon #.
If someone is on EQIM and you are having problems sending them a reply or tell back try dropping the servername so ;tell Taven Howdy.

                          Cancelling autojoin

Had to cancel autojoin myself just the other day. Accidently turned it on without knowing what I was doing.

You have to edit the eq.ini file. It's not hard to find the spot, it says autojoin= and then lists the channels. (IIRC) If you delete just the channel names, it will not join them, but you will still receive a message about autojoining channels (it just won't join any). If you delete the entire line, it should take out everything Hope that helped a bit.

You will not immediately join those channels after using the /autojoin command. Autojoining only happens as you log in, so you'll have to either join them manually or log off and back on in order to join. [
You will however, autojoin after you zone. So you don't actually need to re-login. Any time you change the way your autojoin is set up, it will reload after zoning, in the same way that your UI will reload after zoning.

Alternatively, you can just issue the /autojoin command in-game giving the list of channels you want active.

So, borrowing from an earlier example, if you originally set yourself up with:

/autojoin serverwide.eqtraders,tradeskills,greenbeansassword[/list:u]

and decide you don't want to hear another argument about green beans, you can then issue:

/autojoin serverwide.eqtraders,tradeskills[/list:u]

and greenbeans won't be autojoined the next time you log on.

If you /autojoin "", it has the same effect as editing the eq.ini file, and deleting the channel names but leaving the autojoin= entry. To get rid of the message entirely, you still have to go into the eq.ini file.
