  • Int/Wis Cap

Is there a cap to Int/Wis to it helping with skill-ups. I would imagine its 355, that being the max with AAs, but I havent been able to find a firm answer on this.

355 Int/Wis is the maximum possible score with all the AA points.

Yes, the higher your Int or Wis score, the more lilkely you are to recieve a skill-up when making something.

I have a 310 Int on my enchanter now, and skilling up smithing and tailoring has largely been limited by budget and materials, as skill-ups seem to happen frequently.

Your results will vary based on the vagaries of the RNG, but yes, higher Int/Wis socres help.

Ok, people have been asking this for a while. (PoP came out ... what ... October last year?)

I think we can have a "relative" -answer- for the question. Recently several people posted their results for going from skill 200 to skill 250 in baking exclusively on Misty Thicket Picnics. They posted the number of combines per point and total and their Int/Wis at the time.

      Guy with Int/Wis 305

1563 combines for 200-250 skill range
      31.26 combines per skill up

      Guy with Int/Wis 285

1592 combines for 200-250 skill range
      31.84 combines per skill up

      Guy with Int/Wis 255

1843 combines for 200-250 skill range
      36.86 combines per skill up

We notice two things from this list.

      1) The difference between 305 and 285 was LESS THAN one attempt per point. In fact it was less than 30 attempts for 50 points.

      2) There was a substantial difference between 255 and 285, of almost exactly 5 attempts a skill point.

      255 - 285 ... 5 attempts per point for a 30 point difference
      285 - 305 ... >1 attempt per point for a 20 point difference

I'm gonna figure, for my own purposes, that 280 is a "soft cap" for skill up rates. (If not, in fact, a HARD cap and the small reported differences are mearly artifacts of the random number generator over a total of 3000 combines.)

Why? Because to raise the Int/Wis/Str/Dex cap over 280 you need to spend AA points. So 280 seems a reasonable place to put a soft/hard cap on skill up rate. And even 255 might be an actual "soft cap" with 256-280 having diminishing returns. (Since anyone can have 255 but need 61+ for 256+)

Higher Int/Wis is always useful, don't get me wrong. But I'm not going to whack myself out trying to get TheWife's wisdom much over 255 when she starts the skill run from 200 to 250. (Personally I'm pretty much done with tradeskills as far as skilling up goes. Got a trophy, and my Blessed Shawl and have no real intentions of doing Aid Grimmel Quest.)
In My (Not Always) Humble Opinion, except where I quote someone. If I don't know I say so.
I suck at this game, your mileage WILL vary. My path is probably NON-optimal.
