  • HOAX: Changes on Test

Well, I gotta admit, I was taken by a message on The Newbie Zone boards (on the EQ Live website) about changes to test. I even posted them here, because they were of interested. I come to find out it was a hoax.

You can read the entire post here:

I used some rather colorful language to the serverwide channel halfway into that post.

          *grumble*

While I'd HATE a large number of those change, the addition of Velious Level raids to LDoN would be sweet.

          And auto-resetting vendors? Woo!

Ha ha. The first line was a blatant obious red-flag that it was fake.

Nothing new on test except the bazaar is crashing. =/

There are some pretty nice, new spell animations on Test.

I'd love to be able to clear merchants of the junk that has been sold to them like the gnome in the bazaar.

High elf merchant near PoT bank tells you, "Collect 8 flaming heads from PoF for me and put them in this dufflebag."

You receive 5 pp & the thanks of the other tradeskillers that won't spend 10pp + per item clearing slots off the NPC.

'Pretty nice' is an understatement, IMO. Some of them are gorgeous.
Itzena Alhazared, Revenant of {Planeteers}, Vallon Zek. And also a seamstress.
Gelcea Macha, Wandering Animist of Tarew Marr. Will be a smith, one day.

"If it cannot hatch from it's shell, the chick will die without ever truly being born. We are the chick; the world is our egg. If we don't break the world's shell, we will die without truly being born. Smash the world's shell, for the Revolution of the World."

And why would you want to do that?

Because once a merchant's slots have been filled with items that nobody wants to buy back, the useful items that players sell him will be lost. When this happens to a merchant in a high traffic area, there can be lots of goodies that players end up selling that won't be put into the merchant's inventory because it's full. The mere thought of tasty research components or even spider silks vanishing forever brings a tear to my eye.

PoK and the Bazaar are some of the best zones for vendor mining, due to the fact that pretty much everybody finds themselves in at least one of the two places on any given day. Since you can't kill the vendors in either zone (killing generally being the only way to reset them short of waiting for a patch), they often end up with lots of worthless "vendor trash" instead of yummy tradeskill items, and remain that way for weeks on end.

Y'know, if these "merchants" were really interested in reselling the items that they buy from players, they'd do well to watch out for those tradeskill tagged items. Out of slots and somebody's trying to sell me a Words of Abrogation? Well let's just toss out that Opal Bracelet, nobody's ever going to buy it anyway...
