I'm waiting to buy scroll's myself. He's the only merchant for the scroll, and for the velium smithy hammer as well if I remember.
I made my own tempers, because I have morals, and respect myself to much to stoop as low as exploiting CVT's like so many others. Kinda pathetic when you think about it... That so many have to cheat at EQ... And I won't buy from exploiters in the bazaar either. Are those the kind of people I want to hang out with in a virtual game? Guess not.

Yep. I petitioned AFTER I bought 90 enchant velium scrolls. I've had the velium and tempers rotting in my bank for over a week now. And I didn't "buy" a single temper. Oh, and I did link a "Hail, %t" to my server's tradeskill channel.Master Iannyen Sparklybitz

Pootle, read again, he used the vendor to buy the scrolls. Thats perfectly find and shouldnt feel bad.
But, he said in a later post that he did let his tradeskill channel know.
So i appologise!

I would have thought the real reason Nirem was removed was to stop people skilling up on Enchanted Velium Bits. They tried to make him NOT sell coldain velium tempers so you'd at least have to make your own (read: more hassle that it's worth to some people). So they just took him out since they don't want people doing the combine anyway.
I'd put money on the trivial being lowered or the recipe being significantly altered at the same time they put the vendor back.
Personally, I'm glad they're dealing with it, although I do feel sorry for the people who need Nirem for reasons other than exploiting a quest combine to raise smithing.

(I don't mean this as a flame - I mean it as an honest question. I thought the high trivial on the ench velium bits was perhaps a poor choice in design, but far from a exploitable bug. I'm curious to try and understand the alternate (equally valid) viewpoint)Last edited by Dunthor Warsmith; 11-11-2003, 04:00 PM.

I used the term "exploiting" in the old fashioned sense of "taking advantage of something for ones own benefit" rather than in the EQ sense of "breaking the rules". As in "exploited the benefits of the situation", rather than "exploited a bug".

I'm going to petition every single smith that got to 242 on Fine Steel. The trivial was obviously too high, and they exploited it.

Your theory seems to be inaccurate.Itzena Alhazared, Revenant of {Planeteers}, Vallon Zek. And also a seamstress.

I'm gonna agree with the people who have mentioned the 'demand for expensive yet simple skillup routes' idea.
There are people with simply too much time on their hands. They have all the POP flags they need to do Aid Grimel, and they just want the skill necessary to get the earring/s. They have plat to burn to do it, too.
I'm gonna guess that the Ench Vel Bits are supposed to be the Expensive Route. I'd love to know from someone on Test... what's the sellprice of the Ench Vel Spell?
It's simple, requires a 'minimum' of farming mobs that seem to drop velium at a rather nice rate, and 2 storebought supplies (CVT and the spell). I don't think they're going to remove it, jack around with the recipe as far as components go, or nerf the trivial. I just think it's gonna be booooooty expensive.
Which means it's time for me to figure out how to work that Hollowshade War thing.....
