  • Unsolved and / or Unknown Recipies

After having read quite a few of the posts on here and the faq section, I must say I am a bit dumbfounded. Assuming that rather than manualy sort, identify and labeling 90k+ items, SOE took the more logical and accurate method of using the code itself to identify items for the Trade Skill flag.
Two of the most commonly mentioned items in the forums seem to be the Swatch of Cryosilk and the scaler and what recipes their supposed to be used in. The answer there if one follows the above logic would be none. Neither items shows a trade skill flag, or is mentioned in any in game clues that I am aware of.
So if I may lets ONLY put the names / clues to names of recipies in a page with links to the approprate threads where ONLY one recipe is in question. Also lets try to do no SOE bashing. It's not productive and it ends up closing the threads...

    Factors of note

The above said I will continue with what brought me to post in the first place... The factors I use in breaking down recipes or items.

    1. Not all items used in trade skills show flags.
------Stat giving foods and drinks, I have yet to see a stat giving food that had a flag even though for example Hero Sandwich's are used in Bristlebanes Party Platter.
------Weapons of no kind show any flags. See rusty weapons etc
------Some second stage combined items don't show the trade skill flag.
    2. The best way to figure out good possiblitys for recipes I have found is to look at other combines done in that period of time. For example the sewing kit recipie came out shortly after toolbox combines were fixed. Atleast if my addled brain still works :P

I would assume that "second stage combined items", as you put it, don't have the tradeskill flag because they have a use as they are. For instance, I don't believe soda water has the tradeskill flag. Never mind that no one is going to make soda water just to drink--you're going to use it to make a stat drink--it is indeed a finished product with a use as is.

Same for rusty weapons and stat food/drinks used in other recipes--you could include Kaladim Constitutionals as well, due to the use in step 3 of Aid Grimel.

Yet for some reason, many tinkered items that can be recharged have the tradeskills flag because you can combine them with the right battery to make a fresh one. i.e. Azioks Gause press, clockwork armors.

*Some* second level products do show a tradeskill flag - Heady Kiolas for instance, even though they have a use as-is, so I'm not sure about Carmaris' theory. Berry Juice as well iirc.

I get the impression that ANYTHING usable in tradeskills SHOULD have the flag by SOE intent, it's very probable that they're simply omissions/human error.

Of course, I've been wrong at least once before in life and it very well could happen again...

            summoned food/water

Likewise, summoned food and summoned water have the tradeskill flag, yet do NOT actually combine as if normal food (I'd like it if did, and item kept the no-rent flag).

But that'd double the number of items in game, about, so not waiting for it to happen.

IIRC (could be wrong, don't have time to cross reference atm) summoned food/water is a component for magician research.. I think summoned water is a component for everfont and the food is for the mage equivalent of abundant food. But my mage is only level 2 so I really wouldn't know... my cousin has a 38 mage and I seem to remember him using them for his spells, but it could have been something else.
