  • question/concern

please note that i used search and didn't find what i was looking for. ><

i am considering killing some otters in cs. i rather enjoy cs. i like fishing there and i have killed more drakes/wyverns than anyone should ever have to endure.

i have avoided otters because they were too cute to kill. no, i'm not joking. i always said that they were too cute to kill and i wouldn't do it.

after dinging 58 though, i feel the urge to get to 60 and get sunstrike so i can get a ldon group. and raptors in tim deep are nearly the consistent and constant light blue range.

    so i'm considering otters.

but, i don't want to screw up my otter vendors. that is, there are a few things on the otters that i was under the impression were only there. i may be mistaken on this, but i would like to double check.

and, although this isn't really the forum for it, if anyone has a few otter killing tips, i'd listen or you could e-mail me at hihi_ps_hi @ yahoo.com . i'd post on graffe, but the site is down.

but really i am most concerned about destroying a vendor.

    thank you.

What class are you? Gonna say wizard, since I think that's the spell you mentioned.

I think there are only two otter vendors, on the far east. Bloogy Shellcracker and Blumblum Swigwater are those two, I never visited the far west side of the camp. Blumblum has brown algae that I think is only sold there.

Aren't most othmirs only 46 (think chief is 56 though)? And if you do kill them, you will take an othmir faction hit (which you can raise back up through killing ulthorks and doing ulthork tusk turn in). They do drop othmir fur (and the crusty equipment) which can get tailoring to 250.

algae spice, oyster sauces, plankton forsting, and wahtever the other velious equivalents are. they are only on bloogy shellcracker. get a frien to buy for you. load up a mule with tons of the stuff. or after trashing faction geting to 60 burn down the ulthorks in ew like i am doing now. lv 40 so haven't ruined faction yet just killing them for exp. think i like the specs in oasis better though cause i can quad without sow. anyway kill ulthorks and bultharks (something like that) to restore othmir faction.

hehe started before other person posted. same stuff. and yeah graffe's being down hurts.

I must have missed the point here. There are plenty of other place to get XP then off otters. They are far from required killing to advance.

You also say it is so that you can reach 60 and can get LDoN groups. I see high 50's groups all the time. Theres no reason you could not be adventuring now.

If you do happen to kill the Othmirs and want to regain faction then you can alway kill Ulthorks & Walruses in Eastern Wastes til you can use the vendors again. There are probably other places to regain faction as well, but only those come to mind at the moment.

Killing Othmirs will destroy our faction with them, however, to reverse this process you would need to hunt Ulthorks and Walruses in eastern wastes. Keep the tusks that Ulthorks drop. You can turn 4 of them into Chief Kalan for gems.

Othmir Fur is a definate keeper, those are used for high lvl tailors.

And yes, Othmir vendors only have certain items that cannot be found anywhere else.

If you have good SS faction, go and sell what you collect from Othmirs. Can't remember if Othmirs dropped any gems used for the Velious Quest Armors.

are the wyverns before or after the raptors? good cov faction and they wont add as bad and only the named drakes should be faction hits.

If you're looking for a quad spot and don't want to kill otters, try Umbrous Toilers in Maiden's Eye.

Personally, I loved killing those cute things. If you're working on tailoring and xp, it's a perfect spot.

However, needing good enough faction to buy from the vendors is important.

My solution was having two accounts. Anytime I needed to buy something from the old otter boys, I'd just bring a mule with me from my second account. Also, handy thing: I'd actually usually have two mules with me while quadding on the beach (both from the 2nd account). I'd park them at either end of the beach so that I could save every crusty armor piece, every weapon, every gem to sell. The otters are a cash cow if you save everthing.

You can even wander your mule over to the otter vendors and sell otter crap back to them so you never have to leave the beach.

                Anyway, I did 58-60 + a ton of AA's in CS (pre-pop), so I love it.

The xp does taper off at 60, but for some xp + good cash + tailoring components, there's nothing better. And you can fish invis while medding!

This, in my experience, is a much better idea. Way better than otters. More plentiful too.

58 is in range with 65 for LDoN o.O

And Sunstrike is not something one casually acquires - unless that's changed recently.

Best to actually do some grouping, tier 1 PoP is fairly fast exp, plus you can learn to group (I'm guessing you've done a lot of quadding) instead of getting blacklisted because you can't manage aggro.

But yes, there are a number of things on the otters only, mostly velious baking and brewing stuff.
