I put this in General because I was afraid that since it's not an actual Database Update, I couldn't put it in the DB Forum, and I didn't put this in Denmothersama's Corner because I really lothe the idea of bugging her needlessly...
So this is aimed at some one more on the level of Krazick or other database workers.
Either that or I'm waaaay off base in my reasoning...
This starts by being a bit long winded, please bear with me.
I printed off the 2 lists of Research Components and what they make (Recipes -- Spell Research -- the 2 Cross Reference pages). These are my new favorite things to look at: I can now look at drops I get to see what they are for, plus they have helped me VM more effectively to find things for Loy Swatches, etc.
Today, I went to the page where it lists the components for the Celestial Essences, and marked on the research printouts which were listed as successful CE combines, then clicked on those parts and made note of which was more efficient to make into CEs, and which was more efficient to VM and get the plat and buy the cheaper Scent of Marr.
The thought crossed my mind after I looked at my marked sheet... All the known CE combines come from what is listed as 'Old World' research drops. None of the 'LoY' drops are listed as making a CE.
I looked at WHAT drops were on that LoY list... and became confused. These drops were introduced only with Loy? I was playing EQ for a few months before Loy came out, and I'm just about entirely positive that the spells these things are listed as making were in the game before LoY... plus, though I paid virtually NO attention to research stuff at the time, I have very vague recollections of seeing the names of some of these things in game (yaeth comes immediately to mind), tho that rememberance could very well be Way Off.
Ugh, I'm afraid I'm about to stop making sense....
So, the Questions.
1. It is true that none of the 'LoY'-listed research drops make CEs? By virtue of being LoY drops, or just no one has reported these drops make CEs?
2. Did anyone keep the list from the old static site of the research drops that did NOT make CEs? In other words, are there still possible holes of what does and does not make a CE?
3. Does anyone care enough about this area of the game, that it's worth my time to slowly hunt down anything missing? And if the answer to this is yes, can I please perhaps have a copy of the old list of what is known to not work?
3.b. If I start reporting pricing updates on some of these components, do I put them in DB forum or Pricing Forum? Because I put pricing updates on a couple runes in the Pricing Forum in early Sept, and no one has touched em....
Ugh, midterm fried my brain, I sincerely hope that came out in something resembling a logical order.... This is only meant to help, if it's going to turn into more confusion than it's worth, please someone just say so and I'll move on. ^_^
