I also agree with the above, merchant mining added a bit of variety, removed some plat from the game as Tradeskillers tried to find the rare items hidden in the back room stock.

If this is the way it is to be, I would like to suggest a change on how Merchants organize their wares. Have all new items sold to merchants inserted at the top, and when he gets full, he drops items from the bottom of the list, instead of scrapping the new items he just paid for. This makes sense from many perspectives, as a vendor would get rid of his oldest item that has not sold, and certainly wouldn't throw out what he just paid plat for.

I routinely check many merchants to see if there are any steals to be had, for tradeskills. For the past few days, most of them have the exact same inventory, because whatever is sold to them, is instantly lost.

And that is all the High Resale items, Cash loot from mobs & adventures etc (and there is an abundance of that from the last few expansions) things nobody will buy.

You want to reduce plat in the game, having things on merchants nobody will buy, but merchants destroying everything that they give out plat for, and players would buy. This just does not make sense.

I would prefer the hidden inventory be returned, it was nice to buy something off a merchant, and see what pops up. Instead it's all the same stuff nobody sells. These merchants would be going bankrupt in no time, buying but never selling.

      Folks -

Absor was kind enough to drop by and let us know something was changed.

EQ Traders is not the /feedback command, nor is it the EQLive site. Requests for changes to the game or compalints about changes already made belong in those forums. Please don't pester the guest with sugguestions, requests, or rants. Sony has already provided ample means of registering your sugguestions, feedback and ideas.

I'm leaving this open, for discussion, for commentary, for information's sake, but NOT as a forum to request changes to EverQuest.

      Thank you for understanding.

What I would like to see is 'demand calculation' from the merchants. In other words, when an item is being resold, the merchant realises this and starts keeping it (when someone sells them the same item at a later time) on display while getting rid of items that dont move. They would learn what is worth keeping in stock and that is best getting rid off.

This would, imo, keep tradeskill and quest items (and bonechips I suppose) in the visible slots and the useless cash drops off the merchants.

For the merchants it would be good business (not that they are profit maximizing as it is), high turn over is a good thing. It is bad business to display 60 velium short swords and hiding the velium ore!

Or maybe useless items would disappear from the vendor a day or two after sold. So then the vendor's stock would be continuously changing. Or if that's too hard to program, every X minutes/hours/whatever a random item from stock poofs out. This would exclude items the vendor always sells of course.

Hmm, I'd still like to see the merchants quietly dispose of [totally] useless items, when they receive them.

Alas, 'useful' goes way beyond wearable and "tradeskill" items, would need to include things like bags and food and quest items (if they are not marked as "tradeskill" items).

Simply filling new items up top and forcing the bottom items off inventory would let merchants circulate inventory-and buyout items would show up again and again up top as you did so.

Simplest and sensible too. New stock always should be fronted anway.
