  • Skill up by zone?

I ve been in the trade skill thing for about 3 years now. Not full time mine you but constantly playing with it. I remember a while back that people talked about the skill up coming in stages. And some zones being easier to get combines and skill up than others. Lately I have been doing a lot of tradeskills in baking, brewing, jewcrafting and pottery ( 8th shawl prep) and have found, for me anyway, that Thurgadin is a much better place to perform my combines, and Rivervale and PoK are the worst places.

I based this on MTP and HMP combines for baking, Jum jum Bear for Brewing and Gold jewery for JC. I made 100 combines in MTP and 80 combines in HMP in Rivervale with about 2 skill-up between 180 combines. In Thurg I did the same combines and got 7 skill ups. JC did 4 stacks in Rivervale and got 6 skill up and in Thurg got 10 skill ups. For Jum-jum I did 100 combines in both places and got 3 in Rivervale, 2 in PoK and 8 in Thurg.

Maybe the RNG likes me in Thurg... but was wondering if others have found locations that they feel give them better successes in

fan faire the guy said he ran a billion cycles and found the rng was pretty random. he didn't say but it seems like you would need to run a billion cycles to check anything out now. 100 is too short a run. did it in thurg because its pretty there. so wish i could make thurgadin my home city. love velious.

Well I've never really noticed any significance in different zones, but I did have several favorite places in terms of work. Actually Thurg is not one of my favorites, because there is only ONE forge, potter wheel, oven, brewing barrel. I did my JC and fletching there though.

Freeport I did quite a bit of brewing and smithing in Freeport. The city of Freeport has 5 forges scattered about the 3 zones, 2 of the in East Freeport where the banded supply shop is located. And just down the way is a brewing shop, along with a tailoring shop complete with a loom.

Highpass. Did much of my brewing, pottery and smithing here. With multiple pottey wheels, brewing barrels, etc. it was a good place to work and never needed to stand in line. I also did my tailoring in the Wu's phase here, brewing heady kiolas in the tavern after collecting piles of silk in EK.

And another good part about Highpass. . . no level 1 newbie beggers!! (I had a lot of them in Freeport)

Shadowhaven The SH vendors quickly took over the market on my tradeskill dollars. With offering a wide variety of supplies and often multiple spots to work (FOUR forges for smithing in one zone!), it soon became my regular hang out.

brew barrel at 96, -386, -1 (Inside The Velium Keg)

Basically its straight from the zone, right at the T section, follow the path (it curves) and the first right. Follow a short path and the Bar is on your left hand side.

Or just follow this map Thurg

Actually there are 2 brew barrels in shadowhaven. The 2nd one is out on the balcony by Lewena, outside the room with the 1st barrel.

Make that three, but I'm not telling where the third is...

But rest assured, it IS there...

              Somewhere.

SH also has three ovens, which makes it nice for Baking.
