  • Consumables

That's where the money is at in Tradeskills, and why Alchemy is by far one of the best tradeskills. Consumables - Your market NEVER ends, and that is why in the real world everything is based on consumables.

So, how do you put consumables in other tradeskills? There could be some easy ones, that would even compliment alchemy.

Pottery: You could make special vials that the shaman could use in their recipes to give enhancements. Duration bonus on the length of the potion.

Tailoring: Tailor a special water skin, that has 2 slots, where you could put in two stacks of water (or other beverage). Combine the skin, and the two stacks to make one stack that lasts 3x as long.

Smithing: No rent augments! You could make augments that added to resists, or main stats that worked on plate/chain and metal weapons.

Jewelcraft: Augment boosters. Most of the augments i've seen were gems anyway

Brewing: Stat beer that stacks with stat food/water (Not a brewer, so this may already be there - i have just never heard of it)

That's about all my ideas for now

Player made items that disappear after so much damage.. kind of like Rune for Enchanter... these items would provide stats for the player and then when you have taken x amount of damage the stats disappear...

tradeskills item with charges. not recharged like tinkered stuff with batteries but something like a 5 charge fletched staff with shock of frost or something.

      staff of frost
      hickory bow staff
      permafrost crystals
      lapis lazuli

have 5 charges of the shock of ice spell 38 dd. even affordable for the use i woudl think.

      staff of ice
      oak bow staff
      permafrost crystals
      esscense of winter
saphire is too pricey. something like a peridot wouldn't be bad

has 5 charges of the ice shock spell 300 pt dd. 100pp approximately.

wand of confalagration is is game. its about 600 dd.

i a wizard so its wizard spells.

i would buy/make them. i imagine others would too. reason to up fletching for the non-arrow ppl besides grimel and shawls.

      now lets look at smithing.

could do the same with magicians shock of blades line of spell but for a different idea.

      totem of earth and steel
      2 large block of clay
weapon (rusty, fs, velium would yeild different strength pet)
pattern or mold of chest peice(banded mold, chain pattern, plate molds respectively)
enchanted silver, electrum, gold bar respectively
vial of mana cloudy, clear, distilled respectively

charge 1 summons earth elemental. lv 8, 24, 34 level respectively
could add other things like fiery ore instead of clay to make fire elemental, purified water for water. something like that. a mob drops an item that summons a fire elemental already. something like goblin summoner i think with a bottled fire elemental.

shouldn't add anything to make regen or sow potions from shamans. drinkable mana potions are on test. brew your own kei. those spells seems to only add to your mana pool total instead of your current mana or mana regen though.

in short you need to add recipes with charges that take at least some store bought components to be a plat sink. (ok you dont need to but it would work well i think)

      Maker of Picnics.
Cooker of things best left unidentified.
"Grimrose points to the sky. Look! Up in the sky, it's a bird, no, a plane, no it's Picnic-Man. It's Emiamn, a mild mannered tradeskiller by day but daring handsome crime fighter at night. Spreading peace and joy to norrath with his mighty Picnics!"

I was thinking about money sinks yesterday and jotted down a few ideas

I understand that the “sitting mana regen” effect of horses & drogmors is unintentional, but why not make it intentional, such that the mana regen scales up the more expensive the horse/drogmor? from ft2? (current level) for cheapest horse (rope bridle) to ft5? for 100K horse (chain bridle)....that way casters will be motivated to spend plat on the higher end mounts...

OR – add a new mount-type (wolves, cats, boars, unicorns?), cost 150K (or more) & give only them ft5, all other mounts stay with current effect.

OR – have tradeskill made items (like a saddle or saddle blanket, or special mount-only food & drink) that can be given to mounts (like pets accept weapons, armor, mage summoned items) to ADD the extra effects for the rider, like FT or HP regen for duration of use of the mount, dismiss the mount and you must give them a new item to regain the effect…this would be a highly desired consumable…would use up plat by tradeskillers to buy components to make said items and plat from users to buy them, and since it poofs when the mount does, it’s a non-renewing consumable, like food & drink.

        - purchaseable buildings, maybe for guildhalls only (use instancing to make it feasible) & purchaseable items to furnish the buildings, such as
-permanent chests for extra storage…or trophy cases to display stuff at the same time its being stored!
        - a banker or a basic supplies merchant (food, water, bandages, spell reagents)
-certain world containers (forge, pottery wheel, kiln, etc…)
        - guild blackboard (like the taverns/pubs have)
        - picture ‘frames’ to upload guild screenshots to decorate the walls

        - extremely expensive (in plat) high-end weapons proc augments…example: a Complete Heal or big Lifetap proc, WAR only, cost: 10 million plat? (or is that too trivial a sum for uber guilds?)

        etc

Horses have a current "FT equivalent" based on your meditation skill. At level 65 (with maxxed meditation, obviously), a horse is around 30 mana per tick (FT30 equivalent).

I like the idea of tradeskilling charged items.

The problem with this is that every restriction an augment has gets added to the item you put it on. This means that no rent augments would make the item they are put on no rent as well!

Always ways to code it differently. You could always have another buff window for "no rent augments". You combine it to your sword and it does nothing to the sword, but puts an icon in a new buff window (that are unstrippable unless you log).

I had the same thought as Cantatus. I would be very nervous using these unless they were tested to death so that I knew my item would not become no rent.

If so I would suggest the smithing creates the augments which could be used by all armor classes and then are combined the same way as other augments. A smithing check to add the augment directly would either cause a lot of people to take up smithing to the trivial levels or cause this just to not be used. Since there are many weapons/armor pieces that are no drop, would not be possible for someone else to combine it for you. Although I suppose traveling to a camp to add the augment before a raid could be inconvienent. /end rambling
