Shimmering Fish Gills

Seems most fish in the zone drop them (reef barracudas, greater anglerfish, et cetera.. semi-common..)

More like rare. If they were semi-common, you wouldnt have people complaining how rare they are.

they're not even close to semi common, I've spent hours farming that zone... they're rare.

Oh, I don’t know. I have 8 of them, and would reaaaaally like some Soapstone to use with it. In all our mini raids (haven’t tried the head fish yet) in the zone, we have seen one total Soapstone..and, for the record, no oil of frog.

But of all the planes, it is the easiest zone to get a metric ton of mephit blood in.

Of course, if I had some Soapstone I am sure I would want more gills. Any ideas on where to get Soapstone more? Have killed Hydrotha and the Mighty, haven’t gone much further in, but almost all mobs down there should be able to drop it..

Went into PoW to kill them guardians at the zone in for the gate talisman items, 1 hour later 3 shimmering fish gills.

Saw a mini up by the zone in so I asked a few friends to come help kill it. While clearing a few mob got some more, 2 gills in 30 minutes and a Coral Shield

I am the TS looter for my guild so I usually get to see what the drop rates are for most TS items. I can honestly say that these are not rare at all and I agree with the semi rare statement. I find getting the Ice is harder than the gills.

Kinda works this way:

Zone in area you'll get: shimmering fish scales off of the barracuda, turtles, piranha, swordfish, etc
water mephit blood, green memphit scales, triloun meat, memphit meat off of the mephits
oil of the frog off of the cave WAY to the right (zone in, go right, go right, hug right all the way down to a hole in the wall eventually, take a left, go straight) about the only spot frogs are, and well, no raids go there...

If you want soapstone, slarguilug kelp strangs, primodal driftwood bow staffs, e'cian ice you need to kill the hraquis.

Just like earth it all depends on where you hunt... Since I'm in a raiding guild (and tradeskill drop looter) can pretty much tell you that the ice is usually the worst of the drops. Soapstone is more common then gills, but gills are a lot easier to farm xp group wise. And only by doing xp groups will you get oil of a frog (unless by rare chance you trigger a trap and frogs spawn from it).

Since I posted we did actually find the frog room and cleared it a bit (no luck on drops) and are starting to go deeper in, so hopefully more soapstones will show up to get me some matches for my now 11 gills..or more, can't remember..;-)

If you want Soapstone kill hraquis. I have 6 soapstone in about 30 kills. rare... but not a$$-rare.
