  • Iron Oxide

    Hi

I have often wished for a Forage/Groundspawn section on EQTraders but since there isn't one I will post this here since I am unsure where to post it. If there is an appropriate section to put this that I have missed, please advise

I was going to Steamfont Mountains regularly to pick up Iron Oxide but lately there is none to be found, I can however pick up some sort of Moss Covered Drake Scale that is tagged as a TS component, but I have gotten ZERO of the Iron Oxide, nor have I seen any on vendors there (usually I can find at least one or two from newbies vendoring them).

Has anyone else noticed this? I had at first thought I just had rotten timing, but I spent HOURS there a number of times and the only groundspawn I found was the Drakeling Scales

Also, where are the Xakra Worms? We have also been there many times and never see one, not even on track, and we have the whole zone to ourselves, we kill Nuisances and still no Xakras, I do kill the Lesser Shades and they drop Shadeling Silks, but I haven't seen any Xakras in quite a while.

    I am bewildered,

    Eileah

Edit: to add corrected name of the Drake Scale

Actually there is a Forage/Groundspawn Section on the main site. Under Trade Supplies.

There just isn't a Forum for them.

My wife has recently started a Gnome Paladin alt on Kane Bayle, and she has found many groundspawn Iron Oxides in Steamfont back by the giant gear, where they always were. She found some within the last werk, so I'm confident that they're still there.

The iron oxides are on a really long respawn, either 8 or 12 hours or something like that. Last time I really needed some I went out to Steamfont for a marathon camp and found that a druid appeared just in time for respawns and ran around gathering them up. Chances are that if you're on a busy server, they're just getting scooped up right away.

Iron Oxides were, if I remember, was on 22-26 hour cycle. The best time to go get them is when the server resets. When I was doing GM Pottery, I used to park my druid right at Mino's cave and when I was lucky enough to be logging on after the servers came back on, go round up the ground spawns. I think there were like 6-7 spawns you can get and usually I would get about half and half or Iron Oxide and Russet Oxide.

              Iron Oxide

They also drop from stonegrabbers in Marus Seru now.

How do i get hundreds of iron oxide

During the last two months, iron oxide has been in short supply and gotten expensive in the bazaar. What is the best way for me to get a backpack full (200) of iron oxide? How much time would i have to spend in twilight or the hole to get a backpack full?

I dont mind going into velks and farming for velium because i get experience. And, i can pick up permafrost crystals from ground spawn every two hours with my mule camped at permafrost. But, i have no idea how to get large quanitities of iron oxide. I only found it once in steamfont after a server pop, but on my server there seem to be druids that know the cycle because i have never found it again in steamfont.

Can someone give me advice, please? I need some iron oxide and dont want to pay the bazaar price of 500p each.

HOLY POOP! My only advice would be to choose another skill up path. 200 iton oxide is going to take a HUGE amount of time....
This thread seems to have covered all the locations where it drops, good luck to ya!

You can get iron oxide from:

                            Earth elementals
                            Fire elementals
                            Stonegrabbers

Depending on your level, you can start in Najena and end up in the Grey.

It is rare, I won't mislead you on that. But you'll also get other items, depending on the zone, that will either be worth money or usable in your tradeskill.

And I agree with Pootle. What are you trying to skill up on, that needs 200 Iron Oxides??? The most I've ever been able to get is 29, and that took over a week of stockpiling all I got in TS.

i would by far recommend stonegrabbers in marus seru. if i had known there was a need i would have saved it. exp around lv 30. social aggro so its easy to collect trains. need to grab an enchanter i think and (as a wizard) we can ae most of them in zone. good luck. at least a stack i didn't even loot. wasn't there long. mainly going for hoppers for lq hopper and greyhopper hides.
