  • LDoN specialized encounters...

Lost Dungeons of Norrath breaks the mold of traditional zones by allowing every zone in the expansion to provide adventures for all groups between levels 20 and 65. Each time you embark on a new adventure, you're sent to one of 48 distinct dungeon zones, each customized with challenging monsters and traps tailored to the level of your group. This means, as long as you're over level 20, you'll have 48 challenging new dungeons to explore and conquer!
So with LDoN encounters are created to the make up of your group from what I understand. Does that mean that only characters level 20's or whatever get to have the encounters with certain monsters? And if so, do the higher level mobs drop the same tradeskill items their lower level counterparts do, if mobs still drop TS items in the expansion.

Also, what if your group consists of a wide variety of level characters? What level mobs would spawn? Or will it even be possible to have a group with say 3 level 45 and 3 level 65 group members? Is it possible to solo or have groups consisting of less then 6 members?

Anyone likely to be able to answer your specific questions will be in the beta test, and will have signed an NDA (non-disclosure agreement).

Why not just be patient and discover some of the information on your own?

Well not to throw ice water on your comment... we can speculate. And that is all you are likely to get...

      -----------------------
Now my speculations are (I am not in Beta so that is all they are):

      1. The "Wayfarers" is something like getting a flag from one (or more NPCs. Chat with them, and they say go do such-and-such (a mini-quest), and you get a flag.

Only if you have the flag can you enter the new LDON zones.

To Get the NPC to talk to you, is to be level >= 20. Or maybe like the hate stones, or the Luclin Portals in DL/NK/Tox/Fayd/GD you get a "fragment" that will allow your group/raid to zone in (create instance). The Raid / Group Leader needs the fragment... allowing the instance to be tied to the item... And maybe, once you zone in, you get a piece of the fragment (copy) with the ID of the instance. This would allow you to zone out and back in.

The fragment would be LORE, NO RENT and Soul Bound. If you DIE... the Fragment stays with you (like the dungeon keys). It would allow you to zone back in.

If you DIE, then go LD before getting back into the zone... and not get back before NO RENTS go Poof... either:

      a) Your body gets put in a GY outside zoneline..
      b) You get back, but have no fragment... get someone (anyone) in party still in the zone to come out, get you into the group, then you can zone back in.

Hmmm... hole... Party of 6 zones in, each gets a fragment. Party splits into two groups of 3. Group leader of Party 1A zones out, invites 3 new people into Group 1A, and all zone back in. Now 9 People in zone meant for 6, with 9 fragments.

      This gets confusing.

      Never mind me... I ramble.

Lets just say it sounds like they are basically copying AO's mission system (almost exactly from what it sounds)

Actually, the impression I've picked up from the various interviews and other posted pieces of information was that the players had the option to specify the difficulty they wanted to deal with. So when you talk to the NPC, you give him or her some general indication of the challenge your group wants to face and go from there.

This would be nice as not all groups are created equal, and just because two groups have the exact same classes and the exact same gear doesn't mean that they're going to fight just as effectively. A group that has the skills and coordination to tackle a tougher challenge should be able to do so, while a group that doesn't mesh well together can go for an easier challenge.

My thought was that each player would get some sort of ranking. This number would depend on your level and class. AA points and maybe even gear/hp might also take effect in this ranking. Depending on what your groups number averages out to be, that will determine what "level" of dungeon you get to explore.
