Personally I do all of my combines as fast as i possibly can. For example, if I get a skill up, then i move onto next combine as fast as I can clicky my mouse in hopes to getting another. *Shrug* has worked a couple times, go figure.

I didn't have any superstitions for skill ups. I figured I would just hit the RNG as much as possible to get my skill ups.
When it comes to high end combines I do have a "method"
The RNG is only truely 100% random over a period of thousands of numbers generated. It is "streaky" in the short term. I will roll a random 100 ten or twenty times to see which way the RNG is streaking. If I roll mostly under 60 then I wait till another day to try my combine. It seems to work. I have failed 1 bloodmetal earring of engagement in 12 combines, and I have a 75% success rate with heraldic armors and velious tailoring. Wish I been trying this with the stonewood compound bows.

No skillup superstitions here at all. Items to be combined are usually in one bag for convenience sake. Max out my wisdom, if possible, hold geerlock at the same time as wisdom is maxxed. Plop stuff in the container in any old order, hit combine.

Sometimes I get bad streaks, sometimes I get good ones. Same as anyone else reports.

I like doing my skill ups sitting on the bottom of the pool in Shadowhaven (assuming I don't need a world container) I havn't noticed an improvement is skill ups but at least I get some peace

I have a stuffed "odie" dog that sits on my monitor, every time i sit down and get ready for a batch of skill up attempts, i rub his head. when i'm done with my set of combination, the amount of time i rub his head is proportion to how many skill ups i've had.

I don't want to start yet another debate over this, because I know it comes down to discussion of the quality of the programming of the RNG, which isn't something we can really ever resolve without a phenomenal feat of sampling and number crunching. But for the benefit of those reading this thread, suffice to say that this is a theory and not a proven fact. I firmly believe that the RNG only appears streaky in the short term due to the nature of randomness and our innate tendency to see patterns whether or not they exist. Randomness is inherently unpredictable. There is absolutely nothing about randomness that precludes getting 10-20 low rolls in a row. Getting 1 million low rolls in a row, which much more unlikely, could still happen in a random system. In my book it's just luck. I'm not willing to go to the effort of proving it, so this is also just a theory.

Not that I don't have my superstitions, mind you...but they're just silly stuff done to stop myself from hyperventilating over really important combines.

I'm with Stugein. Everything must be laid out orderly, logically and exactly the same in every bag, lol.

I've enjoyed this thread! But, it made me think, lol. I tend to do all my cooking in the same oven - with both alts. What else am I doing without realizing it (looks over both shoulders). Lol, and how on Norrath to I fit this 'human-ness' into my roleplay.
