  • Wishing for a system change

In most tradeskills, the trivial levels are set decently apart. However, in some the trivial levels either jump drastically or the drops for the in-between stages are stupidly hard to hunt/farm. I've done a feedback and send email to Verant about an idea that I had to help overcome this sticking point, now that Verant is doing a much bigger push to see tradeskills become more a part of the game. It's sort of a 'mass production' for EQ.

Basically if you want to make fish rolls, you combine 1 fish and 1 bat wing in a spit/oven. That trivials at 135. However, my idea is that if you don't want to work at patty melts, pixie sticks or what ever then you stack.
Combine 2 fish and 2 bat wings for a trivial of 137. Each extra result would increase the trivial level by 2 points. So if you wanted to make a stack of fish rolls the trivial level would be 173 (135 base, plus 19 extras x 2). Not only would this smooth over some rough spots in the trivial levels that I've found problems with in the past, and even now, but would also make creating food/drink in quantities MUCH easier. However, even with the accounts I have access to, and my plethora of email addresses there is only so much notice Verant would take note of me.

If you think this is a good idea, please say so and let verant know as well. With feedback in game, or email out of game. Hopefully if enough people say something like this they will take note.

If you think there's a better system, post it.

I think it would totally trivialize many of the more difficult skills. You may think this is good or bad. I think its bad.

I would like to be able to do a stack of combines at once, but the trivial should be the same.

      /agree Qaladar on both counts

      For example:

You would be able to get to 242 in Fletching with simple inexpensive arrow combines with all store bought components.

You could get to 231 in Baking with Patty Melts

I'm sure there are plenty more things that would be trivialized skillup wise.

On the other hand, being able to make a stack of Heady Kiolas, Silk Threads, or even Leather Paddings in one fell swoop would be great!

I sure would like to be able to combine a stack at a time, but that would give me another problem... if stackable items combine, I could often accidently end up doing combines I didn't intend to. Using deluxe toolboxes or sewing kits for storage of combineable items could then cause some problems. Of course if "done" and "combine" had more space between them (top and botom of container) that might help, or maybe even a "confim intended stack cobine pop up" (Deactivate it if you never make mistakes)...

The problem I am thinking of could be this:

You have made 3 stacks of silk threads, and foolishly put them in your sewing kit, you are looking for your stacks of LQ pelts as you intend to make leather padding for your smithing. Now if you accidently hit "combine" instead of "done" on your sewing kit, you are now the proud owner of 1 stack of silk cords...

first of all, mass combining like this might be possible under the current tradeskill engine, but it would probably be prohibitvely difficult, and even more difficult if the trivials were dependant on the number of items involved. also, fletching can already be taken to 242 with simple, (relatively) inexpensive arrow combines with store bought components, as long as your diety is karana. and until they got the 'stacked items don't combine' code working recently, 3 stacks of silk thread would become 1 silk cord.

as for the pain of the skillup progressions, it's the only major obstacle preventing all tradeskills from becoming JC.

I'd be happy if we could combine stacks of components for trivial things, at least -- Heady Kiolas?!? Bleh!
