I have seen a lot of talk on the these boards about maxing your Int/Wis before working on trade skills so i was wondering what you all felt was the Minimum Int/Wis need for trade skills. I just got to 191 Baking with a Troll SK who only has a Int of 126 and +5% from geerlock and i was wondering how much more i should try and bost his Int before trying to get to 250?

As much as you possibly can is probably the best answer. The higher your int, the less time you are likely to have to spend on getting skillups. The geerlock is only helping you with getting more successful combines, it has no direct effect on skillups, and, if it is swapped in instead of an INT enhancing item, is likely reducing your number of skillups. On the other hand, it can help to make the tradeskilling a touch less expensive, as you will have more successful combines to sell.

Yep, I get it as high as I can without too much fuss. If I'm at a point where it's really hard to get the materials I need, I'll go to a lot more trouble (getting KEI, equipping wis gear, etc) to get my wis up. If the materials are easy I'll just swap around the gear I've got handy, maybe go into bear form, and go for it. There is no magic number, per se. More is simply better.

If the trade skill bug has really sunk its teeth into you and you expect to be practicing trade skills for some time to come, I’d suggest putting together some trade skill items. If you can find some items, looted or bought, that have better int than what you currently have in your slots, stash them in your bank even if you would never use them when hunting for xp. Then trade them out with your regular gear when you sit down to do trade skills. Keep some stat food and drink with high int on them in your bank for that reason too. And if you can find one get a KEI. Add all that together and you might be surprised at how high you can raise your intelligence.
On the other hand, you don’t have to have high stats to do trade skills. You can have an int of 70 as your high stat and still get skill ups. It’s just going to take you a lot longer to reach your goal than someone with 255 intelligence. And if you are using rare or expensive components for your combines that can become very frustrating and/or very expensive very fast.Pait Spiritwalker

holy hades. 191 baking with 126 int? you're either brave, or crazy, or both, or maybe just crazy. ^_^
over the course of time, a lot of 'theories' have been thrown at sanna's head in a sequential order. As you will see, they do not all agree. Unfortunately, that is half the point. They are:
1. W/I above 200 makes large difference.
2. W/I above 250 makes large difference, but no more W/I above that makes any difference.
3. There are three large 'jump' numbers: 250, 300, 355. W/I at or above one of those will allow you to see a drastic skillup increase.
4. 240 is a decent number to aim for. The higher the better, but when doing 188+, don't do so without 240 W/I.
1 is true, simply by virtue of falling under the 'more is better' category. Through a long discussion, it was finally beaten into me that 2 is a blatant lie. That conversation somehow resulted in 3. And 4 is the rumor that i think is floating around Sullon at the moment, which for those who know anything about Sullon + Tradeskills, makes the first part of this sentence really funny.
You being an SK means you need INT. Get Int. Lots of it. Somehow. It affects your mana pool, it affects spell casting stuff, it affects everything. Get Int. If you want to keep tradeskilling and not pull out your hair, get int.
How much? 200. 240. 250, 300, 355. Almost doesn't matter; every little bit helps. Get a lot.
Personally, I'm rejoicing that my main finally has 216 wis (hey, i'm a noob, i know). I firmly believe that having 200+ wis has helped a lot.
and grats on the 191 baking. ^_^. it's a nice cheery message to see.
