  • Is Alchohol Tolerance needed for anything?

I haven't been able to find any info on whether or not AT serves any purpose outside of role playing. Can anyone out there satisfy my curiosity?

I thought AT was good for melees. When you drink alcohol your STR and STA go up, but your INT and WIS go down. With a high AT you can drink more without the ill-effects of swaying.

I don't know if it helps much though.

Actually, AT negated the STR benefits of drinking.

Higher AT means you have to drink more to get the plus to STR, and the neg to wis and int.

I think drinking raises your HP too.

            Alright everyone...

            Time for an experiment...

Note your ATTACK score, HP, STR, STA, WIS, INT

Now drink a ton of alcohol...

If I'm not mistaken, as you drink, your ATTACK rating actually decreases!!! If that is the case, what melee in their right mind would drink before battle???

            Thus,

            It serves no purpose whatsoever.

            It's just for fun hehehe

              Hehe,
              Aye,

However, if you are a str based smith then drinking might help give you str boost. Not sure if it messes with the RNG though, and as the earlier comment says, the higher your AT the more you need to drink to get the str increase.

basically it's just for fun. I maxed mine while learning to brew (after brewing sessions were done).

                AT and brewing

I noticed that my brewing skill ups increased AFTER i reached 200 in AT. I was not drunk when brewing though.. just mazed it and then finnished brewing at 250 that night (2 hours to get from 218 to 250 with 255 wis).

Dont know if it was the range of points I ws working on or not though.. But I did have a lot more room in my bags.. lol

Drinking alcohol used to increase strength and stamina, but it no longer does. I'm not sure when the change actually happened, or why it was made. Now, it is just a role playing issue and serves no other purpose (at the moment).

actually, it does have a purpose.

have ya ever notice that a toon that has not had enough food or drink, starts losing stats (temp) like sta, str and dex.

well, AT will let you satify the basic character need for food and water (or alcohol), WITHOUT the negative effects of actuall drink Alcohol. hence, as far as the game is concerned, quenching your thirst with water.

Okay, maybe people are reading too much into AT. I mean, in real life what does it do? Absolutely nothing, except make you spend more money on booze before you get drunk.

                      Nuff said.
