  • Farming Acrylia - 56 Ranger

I went to Hollowshade but there were no Grimlings up. I read about the war and started trying to get them to spawn. Eventually I ran into another Ranger that told me the drops there had been nerfed. So I scrapped that idea and went to DSP. I killed maybe 20 tribals but didn't get a single piece of Acrylia. I then tried the gorangas in ME but didn't get any off the two I killed (Swarmcaller helps to solo for a Ranger - procs 50% slow). I guess I could head to the Acrylia Caverns, but how well would a level 56 Ranger be able to solo there?

Or are there any other options for farming Acrylia?

My lvl 50 Pally does it in The Grimling Caves in FM.. she is usually a terrible soloer, but does well here... the grimlings are mostly green cons, some light blue, and Foremen are dark blue... you should be able to kill theese fast. Droprate is nothing like Acrylia Caverns (where she can't solo), but the drop of occasional Windstones as well makes it worth it. If you do choose to hunt here, make sure to kill the Grimling Laborer that wanders between the 2 caves.. droprate on this one is far better than the rest of them (average of 4 out of 5 for me). And while you are there you might as well kill the Grimling Runner for the Rallic pack pattern as well if he passes by...

I assume you meant TM rather than FM. I read about these caves while searching around the forums here so I went there (after my previous post). I went there a few hours ago but unfortunately both caves were camped. I suppose that's a good sign in terms of their drop rates.

I'll have to head back there again sometime in the off-hours I guess.

Only mobs I have ever found in TM to drop Acrylia on a regular basis was the Gor Taku (lil blue-ish grey guys). Grimlings IN TM never dropped any for me worth camping those caves.

At 56 you might do ok near the entrance inside AC but I would bring a healer friend who knows why you are there with you. They upped the level rate on mobs in AC with the revamp and on EMarr there is even an inner sanctum mob that spawns at the zoneline. But drops are great and there may even be some pretty darn good XP for someone your level.

kill the grimling laborer, he is the PH for the runner and normally dropped at least one piece of acrylia every time i killed him

Just for the record there is no connection whatsoever between the runner and the laborer. The laborer spawns in the back corner (right) of the mine closest to KC, behind the ore smelting item there. The Runner spawns at the GF zone line (more or less) and wanders between that point and the 2 caves, entering the front area of both IIRC.

Both are good sources of Ore, but the Runner is a 2 hour spawn.

Best places i have found for small bricks not pieces are the Tenebrous mountains , Grol Baku soldiers. These wander but can be camped at either zone line with track. Also the tribals in Dawnshrouds near the grieg zone. Caves in TM you get a lot more of the small pieces than bricks, othere advantage is the grol baku drop the odd gem.

I believe the Runner is on 90 minute cycle, not 120 minutes.

Get a group and do Acrylia Caverns. Decent xp and great cash/acrylia drops.

                      Acrylia Caverns

Grab a few friends and have fun in Acrylia Caverns -- the experience isn't bad at your level, and the loot is pretty darn awesome.

If you go in the first cave to the right, there is a named (primordial **, sorry forget the exact name) -- he can drop a tradable mask that is AC 12, plus 12 to str, int, wis, DR. That should be enough to get a cleric and chanter to join you (unless they've got some good drops on raids). In addition to the etched runes which can sell for a few gp/pp each, save those 'filthy' weapons -- the stats may not be great, but they sell for 140ish pp each. Mobs can also rarely drop 'pristine' acrylia (shards? forget the exact name, they look like a white ball)-- these are for a Grimling Forest quest, get 8 of them for 750 pp and 3 blues AA experience. The mobs in that first cave are generally light blue at 65.

In 70 minutes last night, we ported to Grimling, ran to AC, and farmed 15 bricks/blocks, another 6-8 each of small pieces and black acrylia, one of the masks, two pristine shards, and about 850 pp worth of weapons/etched runes.

Now... if you get a really good group together, go to inner acrylia and the drops are better -- you can get 40 bricks/blocks in 90 minutes to 2 hours. Plus a bunch of the lucid shards for the VT key.

I'm with Handor on this one... go get some buddies, no way you'll solo there and since there is a chance for the door spawn which will kick anyone under 62's butt solo and give the pet classes a run for their money, I'd say grab 3-4 people and clean up. There's some darn good loot there, so long as you do the 2 rooms where the named spawn, which are right by each-other not far from the exit, you should be fine.

I usually find when i go there that I end up destroying a good 30-50 blocks/bricks of Acrylia in preference of the runes, which are really good money when stacked.

Wish I had that luxury. I usually wind up letting runes rot, in order to carry more bricks.

Next time you sell runes, make a list of what they sell for (per stack) and ditch the cheap ones. Oh and go with LOTS of empty bags. Id use the money made farmin AC to buy haversacks/tink bags. =)
