  • Nightmare Silks

Has anyone else found that there has been a major drop in the amount of these for sale? I used to be able to find these for 100-200 each and now the only guy selling them has them up for 800. I used to make the Nightmare bows to fund all my tradeskills.

With the planes opening up, it seems now the only people fighting the spiders are the ones needing the silk or the ones wanting to sell it.
Don't forget that tailors also use it.

It used to be the spiders droped parchements pretty regularly.

        1. They nerfed the drop rate.
        2. Pretty much everyone has all their 61-62 spells now, as they are common as dirt and sell for pennies in the bazaar.

Therefore no one hunts the spiders anymore. The silks were just a bonus along with the parchments.

I used to find stacks and stacks of em on vendors.

Now i think ive found *2* on vendors in the last 3 months. (2 individual silks, not stacks).

What does it take to kill these? Could a 65 ranger with some elemental and other high end gear solo these, either melee or arrows? Could It be done with a 65 ranger and a 65 shammy?

Our group the other night was a 63 druid (with a young bat DC), 61 warrior, 59 ranger (meh!), 65 cleric and 65 monk. We had a mid 50 shaman for a bit, then a magician (?? I think, I forgot ops: )
They were dark blue to yellow to the 61. It was good having a feign death puller, so that we didn't get too many at once, as they like to sit around kinda close to each other. When they were being slowed, it was 1-2 ch's a fight, after the shaman left it was 3-4. We fought on the south edge, just east of the river.
Most were immune to snare and root as well.
Didn't see any parchments, but got 24 nightmare silks in about 3-4 hours.
I would definitely recommend either someone who can mez them (I guess they can be mezzed?) or a fd puller, just to avoid too many at once.
Anybody else got info on them?

And I've seen swatches up in the bazaar and sent the sellers a tell that the silks unswatched are used in fletching...so far none of them knew that.

The couple of times i got in on a group there it was usually like this:
65 Dire charm druid, tags and pulls a young bat down to that area and then charms, hands it 2 split-paw stun whips. 60+ shaman slowing. 60+ warrior. 60+ Chanter. Various melee. This sort of group owned them pretty well. More often then not, the bat tanked, and the melee were rangers shooting arrows. Druid and shaman kept it alive no problem.

Druid or ranger usually did the pulling, as harmony works well on them. DONT walk underneath trees, you will spawn traps of little spiderlings that are not fun.
The spiders summon and at least some of the spiders proc FD. If it lands on any dire-charmer, their charm will break.

The Terror Matriarch is lvl 65, and drops some decent arms and a nice melee earring. About the same as the other spiders, hits harder, mitigates slow, and every 30 seconds spits out a spiderling add, easily mezable. Bring a bard/chanter if you want to do TM.

A little further down are 2 foreboding guardians, guards of PoNb zoneline. lvl 65. SK mobs, and pretty weak for lvl 65. 1 group easy, just prepare for the 1k HT if someone gets close. Harmony can split them NP, snareable, slowable, summon, and give FAT xp. Theyre on a 12 min timer i think.

The silks only drop from Loathsome creepers, Predatory Creepers, Infernal consorts, and I guess the Terror Matriarch.

Predatory creepers are the easiest, snareable, don't summon.
Loathsome creepers are basically just unsnareable predatorys (run really fast though).
Infernal consorts do summon, not sure if snareable, I don't bother trying to kill them.
Terror matriarch drops decent loot; if you're killing her for silks you need your head checked

The silks on Bristlebane server still sell for 1K+ making them almost worth the whole bow itself, especially when you throw in inno cams which still cost an average of 400pp. From what I understand BB is stupid expensive compared to other servers. I found 4 air arachnid silks for 10k the other day so I bought 'em. I now have 2 featherwood strings but can't find the wind cams. Go figure. BTW, I saw 2 vegerog vines for sale recently....30k EACH lol .
