I generally charge a flat 1.5x material costs for most combines. Guildmates/friends I generally will do a combine for less (sometimes free -- depends), however the thought process I have is that I am taking time out from adventuring to gain the skill to work on an item, so I should be compensated for it. If it for a higher end item, I would probably charge the 'going' rate for a success to strangers (if over 150% material costs) and nothing for a failure *if* an item were trivial and I was not losing time from adventuring (i.e. if someone wants a possible 'free' combine, they must come to me if I am grouped).

Not being a grandmaster in anything yet, I tend to be more humble. Most of the folks who come to me for combines usually need some quest items made with a trivial in the 30's or so. I usually charge 5-10pp for combines trivialling under 100 if the customer come to me with all the bits.

If I have to run around fetching stuff or doing multiple subcombines, or if I'm in an ornery mood, I may charge more.

For combines that trivial over 100 and under my current skill, I haven't yet set a firm policy. I'm leaning towards 1pp per trivial as the simplest case, but I may just do a flat fee of 100 or 150pp per combine. I haven't decided whether to charge on failures as well.

For non-trivial combines, I will never charge for a failure. Success is charged as above.

I'll set a policy for combines trivialling over 200 when I get to that skill level.

In any case, I never charge friends (except for the cost of components if I need to buy them, and then it's just my cost). Having said that, I've noticed that those who are real friends (and appreciate the difficulty in reaching that skill level) will donate several times what I would have charged.

I asked a gnome yesterday if he did tinkering. He said his skill was 30 points below the trivial level for the cams needed for the nightmarewood bow. He told me he always does combines for free as long as the supplies are brought to him. I am still going to donate a few hundred, if it succeds

How do you handle a failure when doing a combine for someone, especially if it's on something that is trivial for you? I've only had this happen a few times, but all I could really say was "I'm sorry."

Not sure just what to do

Even before I reached the magic numbers of 250 I had been asked to combine bows. Lately I have been getting more requests.

For store bought bow supplies I have just ask them to buy what was needed and bring to me.
If they quested a bow that could be made with store bought supplies I charged them just about cost.

but my problem is with the nightmare and BFT bows...what to charge?

I would really like other GM fletchers of Emarr to contact me so I could be more in line with what others are doing.

I have a very hard time "charging" for what I do...but at the same time..I not want to undercut other fletchers on the server..

I like the idea of x2 materals for my troubles..

            options ...ideas? ...
            thanks
