Gloaming Bow....Bard's Bow...but what ARROW can bard equip?

I purchased a Bow of Gloaming in the bazaar for my Bard...yes...for my bard. Not an expensive bow, either.

I have had plenty of weird conversations with high level bards who say that bards cannot equip a bow....the argument ends when I link the bow to them and they are speechless.

It is not a mistake. It is not a nerf gone crazy. It is a bard equippable bow, that WORKS. Now. Anyone know what arrow a bard can use?

I have been told by a select few that there IS indeed arrows to go with the bow, and some say they are tradeskill made, perhaps cultural.

I have a warrior with a 205 in Fletching....no combination I know of will produce a Bard useable arrow...at least none I have tried.

Well, since Bards don't have the Archery skill, I'd say the item is bugged.

If you have yet to find an arrow that you can equip, how do you know the bow actually works? Not to mention that melee skills at L0 are woefully inadequate.

I agree with Lothay that it's a bug and SoE will eventually get around to removing bards from the item. Not like it's the first time they've had the wrong classes on an item.

Arent you auto-killed when the game find you have an item in your inventory you can actually have there? Im serious. As soon as you log in, you die. This is to get the item out of your inventory on a corpse that you have to loot, and there fore not be able to put back into that inventory slot. I dont think you lose XP from those deaths.

If there was a ranger usable drum, youd be saying the same thing.

When the new UI first came out, there was a way to equip any item in any posisition. (Not gonna go into details, it don't work anymore anyway :P ). They put the code you are describing in the game at that point as a way to fix all the folks who took advantage of that bug. I don't know if they ever removed the code, my guess would be no....so the code is probably still in there...hehehe.

I suspect it's only wrong-slot items that kill you, not wrong-class items. I've had unequippable items equipped since then, due to the item's stats being changed, and not died. (I think it was Tar goo strands no longer warrior equippable, but that's from memory).

Didn't check it before but as of the patch on 7/10, bards are no longer listed on the Bow of Gloaming.

Note that there is precedent for items being usable by a class that does not get the relevent skill - see for example this list of monk-usable 1hs, or this necro 2hs, or these monk piercers (Lucy is fun! ). All that happens is that you wield the item with skill 0 (or maybe 1), and can't get skillups.

Note that Allakhazam and Lucy seem to have differing opinions on whether bards can equip the Ssraeshzian Longbow (off glyphed in Ssra)... but Lucy lists no bard usable arrow.

there has also been a precident for them REMOVING the ability to equip a weapon on a class that doesn't get the corresponding weapon skill

I also vaguely remember a shaman equippable weapon from kaesora. My shaman had no skill, couldn't train, and never got an increase from using it. It did however stop ppl from asking me for SoW

When Jaggedpine first came out, the unbalanced daggers that drop there were Monk Usable! (It was fixed very shortly after that.)
I put a suit of Reinforced Acrylia on my monk and she looked like a Rogue! Couldnt hit worth squat. =)
Theres Also a book that drops in LOIO thats actually 1hb thats monk usable so i put a robe on my monk, gave her a 25CHA stein and that book and she looked like an Enchanter. Wheee!
