  • Owlbear Feather Darts Yield

I just did the Vah Shir Progressive Fletching quest tonight and found that the owlbear darts now yield three instead of one like the quest write up seems to indicate. Still not worth doing unless you really need a 12 damage/0 delay dart.

I didn't try the other darts since my fletching was already beyond the trivial for them.

I'm guessing this was fixed when they fixed the one item on the cursor bug. It was strange too. On a successful combine the dart tool appears on the cursor (thought I had failed) and when you put it in inventory then you see the three darts individually stacked instead of getting a group of three. Every other tradeskill combine will show the finished product on top of the tools.

That's nice to hear. It makes the ~25 plat for one feather more reasonable. I've always though this would be a great monk item because of the 0 delay but farming enough feathers (before the Hollowshade War fix at least) was just too time consuming to be worth it. Now 6 feathers end up with slightly less than a stack of darts.

Hrm, I was always kind of curious about darts - does the 0 delay mean that you can fire them off as fast as you can press your range attack button? If so then  that's stinkin crazy!

I just tried them out since they wouldn't sell at 2pp each, probably because no one has heard of them before. I didn't feel like doing the missonary sales routine to move them for the small amout of money I had them up for.

There is about a 2 second interval between throwing them so the 0 delay isn't truly 0.

With 0 skill in throwing (shaman don't get that one) they were hitting tailfang (level 5 MoB in Shar Vahl) for 12 points a shot and I didn't miss in 11 throws but at level 51 I wouldn't have expected to. If I get ahold of some more feathers I'll give some to a newbie and see what they can do with them. The only one in the zone today seemed to be link dead.

There is a refresh time on the throw I believe so the 0 delay means that there is no ADDTIONAL delay. I'm not positive that's how it works but that's how I understand it.

That is indeed correct. There's always a minimum refresh time on the throwing skill; any delay on the throwing weapon is added on top of that. If a throwing weapon has 0 delay, then only interval between throwing them id the refresh time on throwing skill.
