Same as with the proc on any other weapon: it's Dexterity based. Are you of the appropriate level to use it?

      Proc on Nightmare bow

      Hi,

I was given the nightmarewood bow at lvl 54 and have had it proc, Shadow Vortex, several times on regular Class 2 hooked bone arrows, as well as regular arrows (was practicing archery). The reguired lvl I believe is 46 with a recommended lvl of 61 to use it. Hope this helps

Someone mentioned in another thread that the Nightmarewood (at least) doesn't start proccing til level 50.

I am here to testify that the proc on the Nightmarewood has to be completely screwed up. :?:

I am a 53rd Level Ranger. With my normal gear on my DEX hovers in the 150 area. I'm always carrying Shadow Tipped Acrylia Arrows because I'm working my fletching to 250. I use a Nightmarewood Bow.

One day I was soloing Hoppers in DSP when a guildie asked if he could come and target practice on my hoppers. He had just gotten a Nightmarewood Bow and his archery was really bad, so he wanted to work his archery skill up. I said sure, come along.

Now let me say - I've had my Nightmarewood for a few weeks now, and have gotten all of ONE proc out of the thing. That is it - one proc in three weeks.

So my guildie shows up. He is a 50th Level Warrior. He is using a Nightmarewood Bow and Class 2 arrows. He started target shooting on my Hoppers as I pulled them and his Nightmarewood is proc-ing at least once on every pull! Sometimes Twice! I know this because I can see the message when the Shadow Vortex hits the Hopper. It was insane. I asked him what his DEX was - 101. 50 points lower than mine.

Frustrated, I asked him to tank the Hoppers awhile while I sat back and plucked arrows into them. Five Hoppers and about 100 arrows later - ZERO procs :x

So there you have it. This just happened a few nights ago, so except for todays patch (12/13) this is pretty accurate with the way the game is running Right Now. Now can someone explain to me how the Proc on the Nightmarewood is determined?

I am having the same problem with my proc's. It happens so infrequently that it startles me when that CRACK! of thunder sounds. In a full day--12 hours or more of pulling--I get maybe 2 proc's if I'm lucky. Dex is 135. What gives? All my friends complain about this also.
