It will be cheaper to do arrows.

But I feel obligated to point out that there's a big difference between "cheaper" and "cheap". It's gonna cost big, and take a lot of tedious time.

If I recall correctly, a guildmate went from 202 to 250 using bows and spent 140k doing it. I know it was over 100k for sure. Mith arrows will be cheaper but you'll spend a lot of time at the forge and schlepping mithril from felwithe to kelethin. My advice, if you have 2 computers, is to make a newbie on another account, have him bind in kelethin at the forge, run to felwithe, buy mithril, then attack the merchant and die and show up at his bind point. Saves you a trip while probably encumbered.

I went from 202 to 250 on wood elf cultural arrows. I prolly spent like 40k in the process, and banked every arrow i made on mules. they lasted me until i got Endless Quiver. =)

About 5% of those skillups were from random acrylia combines, not really enough to put a dent in teh cultural cost.

So I was not going crazy when I noticed that you can only get Mith in Fewth. And it's not stackable :? ugg!

Guess I'll have to plan a day for this. *sigh*

That's a lot of mithril schlepping. I'd be surprised if you can do it in a day. And you've got your smithing up already, right? Fletching kit trivs at 163 altho you can force out one success at much lower skill if you want. Mithril arrowheads, shafts and the working knife are triv around 40.

I have to ask are the condensed shadow arrows cheaper than these two alternatives if you have access to the acrylia and chunks of condensed shadow?

If you can get the acrylia/condensed cheaper or farm it yourself, yes.

i started to make arrow 215 onwards. i think it's cheaper to make mithril arrow. it you have luck you might get 1 to 3 skill point up per 100 combines. save the arrow coz you can sell in bazaar( might take a while though ). Lots of running around and i took the pop 'book' travelling between felwithe and kelethin :P

I'm trying to calculate out how much it's going to cost me to make the components but I do not see small or large mithril blocks listed on the prices page. Anyone know off-hand how much they cost to buy?

Just finished 250 on acrylia/condensed arrows. This definitely is the cheapest way to do it. I could farm acrylia myself with boxing my druid. I am 65 and druid is 49. Druid just dotted and snared. I took my hammer and just pounded them. Although they are green, they hit about even to me so I would need a heal sometimes in the middle, definitely if there was an add. It's a lot easier with a third, had a 56 warrior once and 62 monk once with me. We were able to take on 3 at a time near the entrance.

On a good day, I can get about 25 acrylia pieces and various blocks per hour or two. On a bad day I got 15 acrylias per 3 hours. Since each small blocks of acrylia produces 2 shafts, I was able to do 1-2 stacks of combines in a day. Cost of this was about 3 silvers, for the mold and water. I would lose one per day average on chisel combines however.

There is an easy place to farm condensed shadow. If you use the book from pok to vShar Vahl, take the road all the way to the other side of the zone to the cave. This is also the zone in area from Paludal Cavern to Sahdeweaver's Thicket. In the cave, there are alien mobs in a large cavern, they were very low green to me. I was able to get to about 3 of these groups, each with about 20-25 of them, at a time. There are grey color ones and black color ones. The grey color ones spawn only if the new spawn is during the day (7am to 7pm?) game time. Black color ones only druing the night game time. Since you can not tell time on the moon, I kept asking gulidies for time so I can clear them.

I would just round them up, and use the Unspoken Word to AOE them. I can kill the entire camp with one blast. I was able to clear the 3 camps twice each before the day time came. I was able to get about 2-3 stacks of the consensed shadow per night in about an hour. Total cost of the combine for the arrowhead was about 1 silver for water. They also yield 2 each.

Then only other items needed were shield cut fletchings and small nocks for the final combine. I don't remember how much those cost.

So each evening, I was able to combine 1-2 stacks of arrows steadily. At 310 wisdom, I was able to average 1-3 points per night.

I hope this helps with your fletching.

                              To put things into perspective....

With 305 wisdom / 305 dex / 160 cha.....It took me about 10 days (~2 to 3 hours a day) and 29,018pp 6gp 7sp 5cp to get from 202 to 250 fletching off of mithril arrows. (That figure included failures also. It was so boring that I occupied part of my time by keeping track of plat spent.)
