Primordial Driftwood Compound Bow - aka Plane of Water Bow

Recipe verification. Sorry, much of this was done at 4am, so I don't remember all the names very well (so I guessed, I will edit with real names as I get them again) but I do remember the trivials and numbers of items.

2 strands of slarghilug kelp + wax = slarghilug kelp string : trivial <=182

cam parts mold + e'cian ice + file = e'cian ice gear and e'cian ice bolts : trivial <=177

cam parts + clockwork grease = e'cian ice cam : trivial >216 (Verified Wendolyn's tinkering skill, she was successful on 3 of 7 combines.)

The planing tool threw me for a loop. 60kpp and some 12 hours spent in past 3 days power fletching to get skill to 241 (ran out of money). Hours spent foraging grease, **** goop. White knuckle combine of cam mold and ice with 177 smithing skill because no guild grandmaster smiths were available. Only to have a DNC. For the heck of it, tried the planing tool and ta da.

As for right clicking intermediate pieces
1. I wasn't thinking of the posting here when I was making, I just was trying to get it made. This is the first time for me investigating a recipe, so it wasn't the first thing on my mind.

2. I didn't start the actual combines on the bow til I was on 20th+ hour awake. At one time, years ago, that wouldn't have affected me. But those days are past, I need my sleep, naps, dozes and what have you. So I wasn't thinking with the utmost clarity.

3. I will do that next time I am making the bows.

p.s. The string is "Slarghilug Kelp String", I will post a screen cap of it later, as well as a screen cap of the completed bow cam. I don't have any cam parts or the material to make them anymore.

Can you tell us what mobs / what zones you found the drops?

Wow.

Color me very dissapointed.
While it has *very* nice stat mods, as an actual bow, it isn't as good as some of the dropped bows from the lower tier planes/elsewhere. I was expecting something better, as not only do you need multiple drops from high level tiers, but also the various high skills. I was expecting it to have at least the same dmg as dly.

'course, can't say I know what sieve does, sounds like some sort of tap, or something.

As I am only 49 still, and the ingredients I have seen listed haven't been appearing on merchants on my server, I won't be getting a chance to make one of these for a while, so I am jealous. =)

And you won't be seeing the parts to make one of these on merchants on your server. At least, not anytime in the next year or so. You *may* be able to make one or more as a "on success" or "for parts" basis, but actually buying the parts off an NPC is probably not going to be happening any time soon.

The parts for the elemental bows are drops from the last (or next to last) tier of planes. (not quit sure there, I've heard plane of time is the only last tier plane) There are probably only a handful of guilds in the game that can get there yet, and exp grinding on the mobs that drop the parts will probably never be common. Only reason people will be hunting those mobs is most likely because *they* want the parts. And seeing as better bows drop from mobs (albeit boss mobs) in the lower tier zones, *those* are what will be killed to get bows, *not* the creatures in the elemental planes.

Basically, good ol' V. messed up. (imo) All this bow does is give those fletchers/guilds able to get to the elemental planes a source of cash *if* they need one. And, most likely, they don't.

Also, I'm not sure the exact requirements to unlock the elemental planes, but I wouldn't be at all suprised if they required killing the very boss mobs that drop the better bows.

Anyways, some "better" bows...

All of the above are better bows than this, and for the most part, easier to get. Oh, and inidentally, in retrospect, the dmg would have to be HIGHER than the delay for me to consider it well designed. Maybe it's a typo, and the designer got the two mixed up?

All were rather common drops in the Reef of Coirnav, aka Plane of Water. At this time, only my guild has access to the zone. Though I am sure that will change soon enough, it will still be a select few for long time. In other words, you will not find any of the items on a vendor for quite a while. That is what makes the dam/del a bit disappointing.

VI messed up? Not IMO. It's ok that there are dropped bows that are better. More likely this bow is a way for a high-level guild to get all it's members a very good (admittedly not great) bow.

Looks the same as Nightmarewood bow.

The drops were off of various mobs, I don't really remember the names of them all. But they were just normal trash mobs.
