  • Skillup data 202-237

I am working all my skills up to being grandmaster modifiable. So, as long as I have a geerlok available, I see nothing special about being 250, when the cost is high ; ) Modifiable grandmaster is just fine, so my goal was somewhere around 238-240 range.

22 more combines done without skillup, ran out of money!

All combines were done with geerlok equipped, to hopefully increase success rate and have more bows to sell back.

Notice I was pretty lucky with long stretches of quick skillups, and no huge 100+ combine droughts at all. I'd guess the average person would need more money than me, perhaps 60k.

Great numbers. But OWE!! 46588 for 34 skill points. 1370p per point. Its numbers like that which willmake you cringe and go running from your fletching kit.

Or set your fletching kit on fire and try to rob the banker

But yeah, from people I've talked to and things I've seen here, seems like the bows skill up faster than the arrows, but are way more expensive.

I want the skill, but that amount of money...
I guess I need to start saving my coppers again.

How much do these bows sell back to vendor for?

You may be spending 46k for 34 skillups, but if they sell back for 40k then you are really only spending net of 6k......

If memory is correct, Darkwoods without cams you lose approximately 20pp on sellback - but on failure you lose more like 230pp each failure. I haven't made any shadewoods yet, but a failure on those would cost you 360pp.

Based on my own experience, the original poster was doing sellbacks (nobody in their right mind would just drop them on the ground and they don't stack). You just go through that much cash on it on failures and sellbacks.

You do something like, get 10k on you. Go sit by the vendor. Make 10 bows, sell them back, make 10 bows, sell them back, repeat, repeat, repeat. And don't be surprised by how fast that 10k disappears and you have to make a trip back to the bank for another 10k.

I haven't kept track of cash spent, I'm at 235 now, but I'd say that expenditure is about the same as my experience also. I may have done slightly better in the 2 cam darkwoods because I had a tinker sitting next to me making cams.

Shadewood staffs are bought from the vendor for 359pp and a Success sells back for 244. Therefore, you lose 115pp on a success and 359pp on a failure. I didn't use cams

I really only started paying attention after 235 - but here's how much money I spent getting to 250 (I know I should have been satisfied with 240 + trophy, but I can't rest until I hit 250!)

Session 1 - Took 10k out of bank. Did the buy 10, combine sell back, rinse and repeat route until I was out of cash. Result 235 to 240

              Session 2 - Another 10k. Result 240 to 243.

              Session 3 - 10k. 243 to 245

Session 4 - 20k. 245 to 248. Ran back to bank and grabbed another 10k. Got to 250 with 4k left, therefore spent 6k to go from 248 to 250.

Therefore, I spent 56k to go from 235 to 250. I didn't keep track of how many successes/failures it took.

hmmm, thats why i will go the codensed substance way.

its very cheap to skill up and as a bonus raises smithing to 116 eventually.

Ya, I hadn't done shadewood when I posed yesterday, those are extremely expensive. 235-246 I did acrylia arrows, but ran the bazaar out of acrylia last night so finished up with shadewood on the last 4 points. Very very expensive that way if you ask me. Had a very good success rate 246-249 though. Sucks to get in a rut on that very last skill point. Ding 250 btw.

This is the reason my ranger stopped at 202 skill. He’d just gotten to 202 when fletching got hit with the giant nerf mace. That’s how my timing usually works out.

                          15k got me from 201 to 221.

Skill up ratio has just been a nighmare since they "made it tougher"

                            slow and steady..

i am averaging one skill up per thirty or so combines of acrylia arrows at the moment. Got 213 the other night. i am NOT spending a fortune on this, one i don't have it, two, no reason to. Every week or so i spend an evening farming grol baku soldiers in TM and then do a run.Now if i could jsut find some nightmare spider silk...
