  • Skilling up 231+

Ok. I just did another 14 combines of acrylia shadow tipped arrows with no luck. I had 145 wis 122iint and 265 dex.

I have done about 6-7 before that. Am I wasting my time?

Can you even skill up on acrylia arrows? Or is that just a skill check not an actual skill gain recipe? Should I just buckle down with compound darkwoods to 235 and then do shadewood til i'm dirt rotten broke? I got 15k in the bank atm. I don't want to spend it unless there's some way I can be almost sure to max fletching in the process.

This is why I make acrylia arrows. Cuz I can put them on my merchant and resell em for cost (or a bit less than cost considering failures).

of course you can skillup on them. A run of 15-25 combines is nothing, dont get discouraged. I did 50+ combines of them w/o skillups at 206ish, switched to Darkwood bows to 215, went back and got 3 skillups in first 40 acrylia combines. 0 skillups after that (30+ combines), but it all evens out.

So it all boils down to I either have to find a way to farm the crud, or lay down my life savings on it in the bazaar... which still wouldnt get me 40 combines, there's usually only 20 or so blocks for sale on a good check.

Or, simply spend all my cash on darkwoods for 4 more points, then shadewoods =/. Maybe i can get my roomate to let me bot her cleric.. i think i could actually tank in the caverns with that =P.

Acrylia fletching is a pain. To show you just how painful it is, here is a chart of my fletching from 202 to 216 (where I am at now).

Skill -- Attempts -- Subtotal Combines -- Average Combines Per Skillup
        202 -- 37 -- 37 -- 37.000
        203 -- 16 -- 53 -- 26.500
        204 -- 3 -- 56 -- 18.667
        205 -- 67 -- 123 -- 30.750
        206 -- 19 -- 142 -- 28.400
        207 -- 93 -- 235 -- 39.167
        208 -- 6 -- 241 -- 34.429
        209 -- 47 -- 288 -- 36.000
        210 -- 104 -- 392 -- 43.556
        211 -- 6 -- 398 -- 39.800
        212 -- 13 -- 411 -- 37.364
        213 -- 8 -- 419 -- 34.917
        214 -- 24 -- 443 -- 34.077
        215 -- 4 -- 447 -- 31.929
I have done 47 combines so far at skill 216.

Acrylia fletching is certainly doable, you will just need about 2 backpacks of acrylia per skill point and to keep in mind that it is still easier than acrylia tailoring or smithing.

        Hope this helps!

Heres a link to my work from 202-250

            http://forums.interealms.com/ranger/...threadid=16715

Tiss slightly unfinished info but 234 on with maxed out dex went fast a lot faster than I though....but was roughly 200 combines to finish it to 250...hope this helps at least a bit

I went from 235 to 247 doing acrylia arrows. I did exactly 347 combines. Acrylia seems to be the best way if u have some plat to burn, that whole run cost me about 9500pp buying acrylia in bazar on bristlebane.

I am 236 in fletching atm and would love to get to 250. How exactly do you make acrylia arrows? The fletching recipes are hard for me to understand on the recipe page.

For conciseness, F/I/S stands for Flame, Ice, or Shadow

F/I/S Tipped Acrylia Arrow - Combine in fletching kit, yield 10, trivial >250
-------Condensed F/I/S Arrowheads - combine in forge, yield 2, trivial 116
--------------Chunk of Condensed F/I/S - farm from various places on Luclin
--------------File - I assume a tradeskiller would have one.
--------------Flask of Water - buy from a merchant
-------Bundled Acrylia Arrowshafts - combine in forge, yield 2, trivial 54
--------------Small Brick of Acrylia - farm acrylia from Luclin and convert to small bricks
--------------Arrow Shaft Mold - buy from fletching vendors
--------------Flask of Water - buy from a merchant

P.S. My tradeskiller (anonymous to avoid beggars) is skilling up on acrylia arrows... he's gone from 202 to 220 in 696 combines.

I went from 202 to 250 in one night and spent about 100k doing nothing but bows. Even with bows I could go 20-30 combines without a skill up.

My stats were 305str 305dex 305agi 305wis for all combines. /hug shammy bot with Ferine Avatar. I know the FAQ says that only the single highests Int/Wis/Dex will be taken into consideration, but since no one knows the exact formula I like to do all my combines with these stats.

Oh... i prolly spent a little more than most because after doing 20 of the 2 cam combines I said "screw this! too slow!" and went straight to shadewood at 216 skill all the way to 250.

Well I did find a way to farm it =).

I did 2k worth of bow combines before i ran out of my small amount of "spending cash" and got 1 skillpiont. Still at 232 after at least 60+ acrylia combines and 4 nightmarewood bows. 232 sucks so far.

Sigh. The bright side is headshot is great for farming AC. Those mobs have 3x the hps they should for their lvl which makes it 3x as useful as in other cases. Yay me. Except for the bastids that are immune to magic and cant be rooted =/ those hurt.

                        Healblade,
I was looking at your numbers and I think you may want to concider getting your WIS up and get a Shaman DEX buff. I have not tracked my progress as you have, but going the Acrylia route I know I have been getting 1 skill up every stack of materials. My fletching is 219 atm. With WIS gear and KEI my is at 225....don't remember the DEX.

I think even your numbers are a great success rate considering the other options currently out there. I had been trying the Mithril arrow route and believe me it is insanely expensive and the skill ups where non-exsistant! On average one stack of materials cost about 800pp (with CHA buffs) and zero skill ups after putting close to 7k into it.

So, don't knock (pun =P) the Acrylia arrows....they are going to be your best friend to get to 250. The ingredients are cheap because they are easy enough to farm (post level 40) and you can make a huge profit comparatively selling them in the bazaar (provided you are not buying your acrylia).

I hope this helps you and everyone else who is stuck in level. I know I was for a long time. =)

I made it to 250 fletching 3 days ago. The next day I make myself my trophy. Here is what i did:

202 to 215 --> 1-cam bow , around 1kpp per skill point, some bad skill up at 2kpp per skill point

215 to 230 --> acrylia arrow. 100 combines yielded 2 to 3 skill up. Farm acrylia myself from grol baku soldier( only soldier drop acrylia ) and grimlings from TM. Bought condensed shadow at bazaar. I think this 15 points skill up costs me around 5kpp. (btw gems do drop from these mobs which can be sold to cover up part of the pp spent on condensed shadow)

230 to 250 --> after feeling sick of farming acrylia, hell i give it a go to make mithril arrow. lots of running around between felwith and kelethin ( i am too lazy so i took the PoP portal ). For every 100 combines, i got 3 to 4 skill points on average which is not bad at all, costs around 1k5pp per 3 to 4 skill points. My last 100 combines, unbelievably, gives me 6 skill points up to 250 !!. Total costs from 230 to 250 should be around 8kpp to 9kp.

My wis for the whole process is around 270+ with geerlok.

Making arrow is a slow process but cheap. For ppl with too much pp to burn, bow is a good way.

Good luck everyone. Hope this will help.

Ok well finally I got skillups. And when it rains it pours. After my previously posted 60+ acrylia arrow combines and 4 nightmarewoods with NO skillup at 232...

I did another nightmarewood, and farmed another 60 combines worth of materials.

I got through 45 of the combines before I finally skilled up. And in the remaining 15 combines i skilled up 3 more times.

So 232 - 233 (always max dex. as i lvld up it ranged from 265-280)
                            5 nightmarewoods and 105+combines (that's 1050+ arrows ouch).

                            Now i'm at 236. 233-236 took 150 arrows =P. Goofy system.
