  • 250+ skill up path changed with UF ?

    Code:
    228 - 235 Shaped Darkwood Compound Bow
    236 - 268 Flame - Ice - Shadow Tipped Acrylia Arrow
269 - 282 Shaped Shadewood Compound Bow (silk)
    283 - 291 Oak Treant Recurve Bow
    292 - 298 Desiccated Treant Recurve Bow(involves farming and/or foraging)
    299 - 300 Desiccated Treant Laminated Recurve Bow(involves farming and/or foraging)

Alternative TSS path to 262: Fletcher Ceramic Clay (involves farming Leopard Intestines)
This is the path fromt he current guide. While I dont mind farming materials normally, I find this path and farming totally retarded. 3+ weeks of farming (4+ hours a day and no exp) and crafting and only received maybe 12 skill ups from 255ish on up. Now I know Ngreth put all kinds of work into the new stuff in UF, it would be a real shame he didnt address fletching issues by throwing another useless recipe in there to make up for it.
I quit EQ again because I am tired of the same old time sinks day in and day out. I was frustrated as hell. So I will say this only, the Treant branches in the moors need to have a huge increase in drop rate, Seriously. I dont wanna spend all my play time that tradeskills demand farming 1 or 2 at a time for a chance at skill up in 1 of up to 200 combines. Come on (Controlling Dev) end the dam time sinks. other MMOs are not even close to this crap.

There are some new crafted reaching symbols made with fletching as well as "cultural" bows that would require some higher end cultural drops (loams/marrows/fluids) or (silks/pelts/ores) and there are SOME potential new paths for skilling up. My feeling is that the recipes have not yet all been identified and the rarity of the drops determined to figure out if they are a better path than that you quoted. Personally, whatever recipe(s) you can most easily get the supplies to attempt is the best skill up path for you.

Easy is usually the expensive way of doing things, however, this is fletching 250+. Sure farming treant staffs is a PITA and is further complicated by the small stacks ( 10 ), upping the drop rate wont hurt that farming camp at all by keeping the stacks at 10. Lets not forget the other built in reduction in skill ups (250+) and that bow are unstackable. So now we get to a point where we spend 2 days farming(casual player hours) staffs for maybe 30-60 attempts (1 treant staff = 1 bow), which takes a whole hour (1,ONE, UNO ) to go through supplies only to spend 2 fricking days farming again. God forbid someone else is at your camp...that will just ruin your whole day. I stopped dedicating my game time to EQ alone because its stupid to spend soooo much time farming for a tradeskill in an MMO that is slowly fading. The flecthing path up still needs fixing, not more excessive farming/questing or the random drop...

The moors are not the only place to get treant branches. GO to the Ruins of Takish hiz, and up to Elddar Forest.. Both have treant mobs at higher levels, so you can XP/AA while farming. There are also groundspawns in both zones.

uhhhh thanks...mind reading a bit more there? I think that its a rude response, especially without reading the thread first, and I didnt ask where I can find them since I already knew. So next time, remember, its read post first, then you can post, not skim and post... (and hopefully something more useful then a post-count tick)

BTW, one zone is instanced (did you forget?) and there is no steady spot to pick up ground spawn. Now, if, the ground spawns were in a more confined or contained area within Elddar, things might be a bit more tolerable, but, the time-sink is still there. Its not just these items, its throughout the game, it needs to speed up or make the game appear to speed up.

Who is the one being rude? You blantly ignore posting rules. You call out the house ogre by name, you insult him and his work and you do nothing but complain about the changes, but I digress...

Elyssandra's response was to indicate that perhaps you are not focusing your efforts well, because others have found the stuff you are "complaining about" as a decent fix and reasonable alternative solution to the skilling up. Perhaps you should try refocusing some of your energies to something more productive.

I think the fellow traders here were being pretty polite in the responses. They were just offering advice to help you in your own tradeskill path. You can take the suggestions or ignore them no problem but I dont see anyone being rude here except your post kind of. This forum is usually one of the most flame free ones you will run across , full of like minded tradesmen more then eager to give someone the help and answers they are seeking. Lets just say Good Luck on your journey to mastering the trade skills you enjoy.

Wow. Perhaps you should get a clue before you go off on your next rant. There is so much fail in your statement, you should win a Gold Star of Unknowing, or something.

First Point of Fail: Neither the Ruins of Takish Hiz nor Elddar Forest are exclusively instanced zones (you walk through one static zone to get to the next static zone, did you forget??). Second Point of Fail: There are indeed steady spots to pick up a ground spawn in both zones. Third Point of Fail: Treant branch ground spawns in both zones are found only and precisely within a small specific area in each zone. Would you prefer to have every one of those ground spawns appear with your name on it, perhaps within a tiny room behind a locked door? I assume that might be confined and contained enough to make you happy, but you would still have to actually pick up the spawn so probably not.

Ok well no sense beating around the bush on who does developing trades for the game, as for insultng him? NEVER, you just wanna start more drama then what is there. To put it bluntly. Elyssandra's response is the standard "you're a newb, here do this and it will all be better" post that I see over at EQplayers all the time. My "efforts" are to reduce the time sink we all put in this game in the past when ther were a lot more players. Just because you play 7 days a week does not mean I do or can. I dont wanna spend months farming for 1 tradeskill for 30-40 skill ups. I do not have a steady income of plat that most boxers do that have a 24-7 trader while they can still play normally. I do not belong to an active guild anymore. This forum is just a venue for an example of the time sinks that are still in EQ that interfere with the rest of the game . Thanks for your rebuttal, move along.

Ok 1 error I made was assuming Ruins of TH was only available instanced, even after years of EQ, I have never been to the static zone there, not once, but then again 2 zones with the same name is rather confusing. I only knew about Elddar, the ground spawns were not so gathered as you described they are now, so ya the serveral times I went there to do gathering years ago was not memoriable and it was still a time-sink and very fruiltless. I admit to being clueless for these 2 zones and from having a bad experience in 1 of them. Do I still get a Gold Star ???

There is something else you need to consider. The tradeskill guide you are referencing was put together by a tradeskiller (player) with input from other tradeskillers (players). This guide is a recommendation by that tradeskiller and is meant to be a balance between expense and availability of materials. SOE did not have anything to do with its creation, nor did any representative of SOE. THERE ARE OTHER PATHS.
