  • Getting 150ish for Shawls

Looking for advice on how to approach Fletching to get high enouf for Shawls quest.

Have tried moving up to each next part that trivials on arrows till 88 (with alt). Not the best way imho but really i dunno.

This would be on a BARD with int able to get 149 (with song and KEI)

    Thanks much in advance :!:

I skilled up doing the arrows. Up to 195 at this time. I would say to use the cheapest part but the item that has the next highest trivial.

arrowhead arrow shaft fletch nock triv
field point wooden round cut large groove 16
field point wooden round cut medium groove 36
field point wooden parabolic cut large groove 46
field point wooden round cut small groove 56
field point bone round cut large groove 68
field point wooden shield cut large groove 82
hooked wooden round cut large groove 102
field point wooden wooden vane large groove 122
field point ceramic round cut large groove 135
field point wooden bone vane large groove 162
silver wooden round cut large groove 182
field point steel ceramic vane large groove 202
on the last one use the cheapest one that you can as a smith I plan to use steel.

    hope this helps.

      Thanks

Thanks for the info. Any Estimate / ETA on cost compared to time it took?

Probably will do this way unless i get a simple suggestion (like something easy as baking and brewing to 101)

      Otherwise thanks a ton.

Muahaha i can see it now a Swarm kiting bard with FT3

Just wondering what you meant by this? My Blacksmithin is gonna be 150ish by the time i hit fletching. Wondering if there a minor trick or something here? I looked thro recipes and MBs and didnt see anything.
        Lemme know and thanks again

I recently did the 0-202 route with fletching (Actually 192, the rate of successes was getting too little to see point in getting it any higher since 192+Geerlok is over 30 points above the shawl quest trivials which puts it in the 5% failure range

In all it took me a bit over an hour sitting next to the fletching vendor in PoP buying 40 combines at a time, swtiching out of CHA mugs each time to get best prices. Total cost was under 1k, but I don't recall what the exact numbers where.

Nice thing about Fletching is that the number of items per combine never changes (Like Jewelrycraft) so you can get a pattern down and don't need to stray from it.

Just notice that many components have the same graphic, so pay attention to what is what to prevent overspending.

My CHA with mugs was 116, my WIS was 215.

Uuuh.. to my knowledge you cannot smith the steel shafts. smithing is used for the condenced shaddow arrow heads and acrylia shafts, but that stuff trvials at 250.

                steel arrowshafts:
file, 2 large bricks of medium quality ore, water (yields 5)
                Triv: >42 <=45

Lot more work for no real cost savings and a loss if they're not trivial to you and you fail very many of them.

And once you're using ceramic vanes, there's no point in using steel shafts with them as they triv at 202 regardless of the other components used.

a suggestion on dex vs int

This would be on a BARD with int able to get 149 (with song and KEI)
I would suggest going with dex instead, on your bard. A sham buff + your best dex song would prolly surpass your 149 int.

                    Dex vs Int vs Wis

Kk, just saying ill probably use int as instead of dex as with reg gear on and nothing else i have like 105 int and only 90 dex (im gimp i know :x ) And with int song (like 15 plus) and 30 int from KEI i get 150ish not to bad. Then with dex if i concentrated on it i could get 120ish with gear without spending much. Then with song i could get 25 or 30 more. Then with 60 plus shammy friends buffs i could get near 200 dex. That would work too and save me a bit of time for the night i decide to get 200.
That will work and then ill probably do fletching and start tailoring same night as ill have dex gear on. Anyway thanks for help ill just buy that stuff instead of doing extra smithing *gag*

Assuming you have Luclin, or a friend who would be willing to trot to Katta for new spells, my reccomendation would be going with dex. Katta's Song of Sword Dancing is an insane dex buff with a good drum (90-odd points with a Walrus Skin drum). That, a nice high level shaman buff, and some cheap dex gear, and you've got a dex 255. That's what I did, and it only cost me 200 pp to go to 162 skill.

                        Dex

Or you can try to get a friendly chanter to cast Boon of Garou on you- 100 point dex buff

                          195

Just like to let ya know that i get 195 if about 3 hours in under 750p with 255 dex. Have yet to hit a hell level and since i felt like i should have less cash after the accomplishment i burned 400 in best store bought arrows to combine for my war along with Comp. Darkwood bow. 19 41 not to bad but the 350p cost kinda sux.
Anyhow dex was easiest and im using that route with tailoring just fyi

                          Thanks for help all
