Are the skill ups in fletchin past 290 modified to be harder than any other skill? As soon as i hit 290 my skill uprate when down the hole. Its now takin me 80-110 combines to get one skillup now. Am I just unlucky as usual or is that the norm? I've been making desicated treant recurve bows and have done close to over 400 combines and am only up to 294.

Can only stress the importance of getting max dex before a session of fletching. Then it is just hope you can get in that Zen-like flow with the RNG for skillups. Picture it like the tide. You want to be doing combines for skill up chances as the tide peaks, then stop doing combines as the peak passes and starts to recede.

Kind of a goofy description, but after enough thousands of combines you start to get a sense.

(Use the Fork, Luke... use the Fork!) .... quote from Obi Wan Miss Manners one of George Lucas' charachters that didn't make it into any of the movies.

I realy should know better than to post in a sleep deprived state... stupidity ensues.....

I would say your experience is unusual, and likely just a bad run with the RNG.

As was pointed out above, make sure that your DEX is as high as you can possibly get it prior to a fletching run. I found that Wunshi's/Dire Focusing (which raise you pretty far above your DEX cap) helped tremendously.

Also if you can, sit in the Guild Hall amd have a Shaman cast Ancestral Aid on you. That rockets your STR and DEX right up.

In general this happens will all tradeskills, the higher you are the lower the skillup rate. Just one of the joys of tradeskilling.

And fletching is one of the difficult ones mathematically to gain skill-ups not the only one... And not including the difficulty of getting parts.

Fletching is very much improved since PoR Negreth. Not easy, but 300 in any skill should require a little bit of blood, sweat and tears along with a few grey hairs.
