  • Problem with Expert trophy

I have done all the combines and turn ins, but there is a bow showing that isn't in the list of combines. Carved Shadewood Recurve bow is listed but no "turn in to judge" text, just the name. If anyone knows how to solve this issue, and will let me know, that would be great. I sent a petition, but not sure what good it will do. Thanks Andwar

I made those and turned in accordingly, but it lists "Carved Shadewood Recurve Bow" with no other information....no string, no "create", no "deliver". I am hoping i don't have to do it all over again.

When in doubt, always go by what the task says. It's possible the guide on EQTC is wrong. Can you double check and post what the exact task text says for the unclear step?

          Error on Expert Trophy

There is a step missing on the EQ Traders site,
1 Carved Shadewood Recurve Bow with Sinew

You have to use Murkglider Sinew as the string. Make sure you carve it my first try I made rough and it needs Carved.

Ok, the following text is taken from my quest window, if you can possibly bring to my attention something I am missing, it would be great. I am going nuts.
Create 20 class2 wood point arrows with small groove nocks.
Create 4 Carved Elm Recurve bows with silk strings.
Create 20 class5 ceramic point arrow with small groove nocks.

create 1 carved shadewood recurve bow w/ sinew string.
create 2 shaped shadewood recurve bow w/silk string.
deliver 4 class 2 wood point arrow to judge.
            Carved Shadewood Recurve Bow.
Deliver 4 class 5 ceramic point arrow to judge
deliver 4 class 6 steel hooked arrow.
deliver 1 class 5 bone serrated tip.
            deliver 1 GM fletcher knife.
deliver 1 Rough Darkwood compound bow.
deliver 1 class 6 steel drakespike.
            deliver 1 carved shadewood recurve.
            deliver 2 shaped shadewood recurve.
This is the current Expert trophy task. All of the above tasks, except the underlined one, show as complete. I have asked around and nobody remembers that being in their list. Thank you for your time and patience with me.

It looks like that's what replaced the class 7 drakespike drakebone arrow.

I have tried every single combination of string when making the Shadewood Recurve Bow, the Judge will not accept it. It doesn't appear in the "create" list, or with any other text, just the way I have it listed. Carved Shadewood Recurve Bow is all it says...I'm doing a /bug report when I get home from work, as obviously there is something wrong with the task. I have asked numerous people in-game and they all respond with the same answer..."that's strange".

I checked. I had already fixed this, it jsut needs a patch to go live.

Thanks for the response. I already tried turning in the Carved Shadewood Bow with silk string, the judge refused it, I also tried to show it to the task giver and she refused it as well. What should I do in this case? Will I have to start the entire task over again, or will the next patch grant me the credit for the Expert task?
I'll try the Carved Elm Recurve bows and let you know what the result is.

My experience with changes like this has been that you'll keep credit for everything you've done and will just have to hand in those Carved Elm Recurve bows. That's not an official answer, but it'd be my bet.

Ok, I created the Carved Elm Recurve Bow w/silk string and gave them to the Judge, I am now the proud owned of the Expert Trophy. Thank you alot for the suggestion....Never would have thought the Carved Shadewood Recurve bow would actually be an Elm one.

for each task element we tell it what to accept. If we leave it will display default information. In this case "Carved Elm Recurve bow".

                            so in data I would say Item = 12345 amount = 4

(that is not the correct item number but you get the idea)

then it would display to the user "make Carved Elm Recurve bow 0/4"
then later "deliver Carved Elm Recurve bow 0/4"

there are 4 items with the name "Carved Elm Recurve bow" each made a specific way, so this would have been very difficult for players to figure what they needed to do to satisfy the requirement.

So... the system allows us to put in some over-ride text in what it displays for the element. (this also allows us to put in a "fake" element and use special scripting to advance the fake element... but that is a different story and not used here) This over-ride text does not change the ACTUALL requirements, just what the task window displays as the requirement. I used this over-ride to be more specific about what is turned in.

When I recently changed this task to remove some of the drake bone requirements, I left some over-ride text on that element (that simply said "Carved Shadewood Recurve Bow") by mistake. Thus the task itself still wants the proper thing (the Elm bow)... it is just displaying the override text because I told it to (by mistake)
