  • Fallen Straight Oak Treant Staff

Has a tradeskill tag, no idea what it is for, first I have seen. Found it in the bazaar so going to attempt to make laminates and see what happens.

edit: Branch + geerlok laminating device + laminator blade = DNC
same but 2 blades = DNC
Branch + planing tool = DNC

It will work in the next full patch just as the "normal" branches do. (if you are on test, I do not know why the items went in but not the recipies, and I do not know when the next test patch is... really odd... on live... same thing.... not sure why items went in but not recipies... but big patch should fix it)

for the moment at least the "fallen" version of
      Dry treant branch
      straight treant branch
      straight oak treant branch

      have totally replaced their predecessors.
Are these for new recipes? or are they interchangable with the same without fallen in the name?

Interchangeable. The Fallen have less resell value to merchants, in order to make foraging not too profitable except for making the tradeskills.

It was just to make two different items with different prices for vendors depending on difficulty of obtaining.

Are non-fallen branches still foraged and/or ground spawns?

He posted on EQLive that they would be both the ground and forage versions of the mob dropped ones. Just so they would be really only useful for tradeskills and not mass plat accumulation

heh, hadn't even considered vendoring them. For my experience the "non-fallen" have never been foraged and have not been seen as ground spawn since the patch.

Overall the same quantity of ground spawn (just different names) and added to forage means more are available now.

Any ideas on how often they are foraged with max forage skill?

Since the patch, I have foraged both varieties of the fallen (oak treant and regular treant). I have also picked up either one or both as ground spawns (while being the only one in the zone). Since what i picked up stacked with what I had foraged, I didn't pay attention to which type I picked up.

With Nature's Bounty maxed, I'd say I was getting at least one variety via forage about every 30 minutes or so.

                  The one's I've foraged are
Fallen Straight Treant Branch - lucy number 97227
Fallen Straight Oak Treant Branch - lucy number 97225
I've not gotten a chance to verify that they work in the combines, but will attempt that tonight.

I have additionally looted Dry Treant Branch from treants in the Ruins of TakHiz, and they are still called Dry Treant Branch (lucy number 97057). Again, I've not gotten a chance to attempt combines with those to verify their recipe still works and if it produces the same result as when combined with the fallen variety.

The "Loot" version does not have fallen in its name, and has a value to an NPC merchants.

The Fallen version are ground spawn and forage, and have little to no value to NPC vendors.

The Fallen work in the same recipes as the original did.

Branches are rare forages, though overall I would say about 7-9.5% chance to get one of the three with max skill (not including the AA doubling your chance)
Dry is the rarest forage because they are the most common drop.

Thank you for the input Ngreth. Regular straight branches are really the tough one for me since you use both supple laminates made from it in a bow staff attempt, and the straight oak and dry yield 2 attempts per branch. Straight has been the rarest for me as well. Many an hour spent bouncing between horses and treants in Tak for components, I have looted all 3 kinds from the mobs but straight was by far the rarest. Looks like I am going to have to get a book and sit in Eldarr, I spent enough time earlier to get a couple straight oak branches but nothing else barring lots and lots of pomegranites.

Someone in the bazaar on Trib right now with 35 fallen straight branches and 78 fallen straight oak so can't be all that rare, lol.

It should be noted that the Fallen Straight Oak Treant Branch can be foraged in Ruins of Takish-Hiz as well.

So far they all (Fallen Straight Oak Treant Branch - Fallen Straight Treant Branch - Fallen Dry Treant Branch) can be foraged in both Ruins and Eldarr.

The *&^%block is the Fallen Straight Treant Branch or Straight Treant Branch. Tend to get one of these (need one per Composite Bow Staff) per 3-5 of the others over time in Eldarr when foraged. I have yet to see them drop off mobs in Ruins but bet they do. And I tried to kill in Eldarr, but never going back till I get told the mobs have been fixed >< (no comment). The three I did kill in Eldarr dropped nothing.

EDIT: PS its nice to have two computers so I can forage for 4hours plus while raiding on my main :P. Beats reading a book and tapping a button. WTB autoforage - like autofire/autoattack :P pretty ogre pls .

Doubtful that afk foraging would be allowed. it would be nice as I always need more oranges and they don't pop very often in bazaar.

Sadly some (not all mind you) of the big time foraged item seller in bazaar probably got some from using illegal macro and parking their toon in a safe spot. I once saw someone just sitting in PoJ for several hours never responded to hail or tells yet the following night there were a big jump in bread crumb and planar fruit. Coincidence? Hard to prove it though.
