  • Fletching suggestion wood elven/karana fletching

How about instead of nerfing the route that is already there adding similar routes for other players via arrows and the expensive cultural metals like wood elven is already?

That way I believe more people would be happy because would have an option for an expensive or a less expensive option of farming materials for the more difficult skillup route. Also I would really like to see a few more options for high end fletching that are more availible easily farmed if must be farmed route.

Just a suggestion and btw Negreth you are doing a great job i think =) Much love for the new trophies

I agree wholeheartedly with this post. I do not believe that it is even remotely reasonable to remove something that has been a staple... even worthy of legendary status from the game. These arrows were not mistakes! Lack of provision for other races and deities was where the mistake came in. Add to that the fact that no one has addressed the grievances of the poor players suffering Trophy combines for all of this time and we can see that the true culprit is SOE and NOT the players who could make these arrows. However, instead of taking responsibility for the mistakes made SOE chooses to fuel the fire of the other players crying, "Nerf them!"

The arrows won't be getting removed, just the trivials lowered. Also anyone that thinks this is an expensive route hasn't done it yet. I spent less than 40k going from 202 to 300 fletching, and that was before I sold the arrows in the bazaar at 2-3pp each. After that I more or less broke even.

its closing the gate after the horse has gone

there was no reason for wood elves to skill up to 300, there are no decent receipes, nothing to make. we are just stubborn. it should have been tunare.

that way if your a ranger you can fletch better. karana or tunare only class.
i dont begrudge the alchemists, poisoners, researchers. those are class related tradeskills.

any wood elf or karana follower has already maxed their trophy by now so a retro trivial nerf is pointless.

some of us skilled up before mithril and before 300 was available, darkwood was it, that and trueshot longbows. every ranger i knew got to 202, only the clinically insane did 250 with darkwood.

its a lot easier now with sedgewood/shadewood/acylia/drake/dragorn etc to 282.

Add me to the clinically insane list then

I remember spending a stupid amount of cash on getting to 250 with darkwood and shadewood

              The plain fact is,

we do not want *any* skill to make it to 300 with vendor only combines.

That said, it is *possible* other cultural recipes can be added, I just do not have a timetable in mind.

The blunt truth is I only have so much time, and cannot give all tradeskills detailed attention every expansion.

Fletching got decent attention this expansion. I have not made full plans for next expansion yet, but I doubt I would be able to do something as complete as a full cultural addition to fletching.

It is a decent idea and some ideas for it have already been forwarded to me

To my mind, I would say the question of the state of fletching boils down to accessability of drops. Are the items availible either by killing MOB or through bazaar? Flagged or keyed zones are not very good for all players. Instanced zones which require the player to get a capable group together are a cetainly better and more availible to everyone willing to gather a group. (And we all LOVE pickup groups. )

Not that I have been in many of the PoR zones yet, but I'm pleased that the few I have been in seem to have mobs which can drop items and they seem to be accessible to folks who have leveled their PC's up without having to drag along a dozen or so friends. PoR may not be the answer for everyone in all situations but fletching seems to be taking a solid step in the right direction with this expansion. (Of course, I reserve the right to change my tune and return to my usual whinning and complaining the next time I have a bad run of combines with the RNG. )

I hope this means that the Blessed versions of the arrows will be uneffected.

The "Blessed" versions of the arrows require plains pebbles to be imbued (by a Karana druid or cleric level 29+) and to complete as smithing subcombined buy the person making the arrowheads (since the imbued plains pebble shards are NO DROP).

Short side track. Is there any reason why rangers, well any caster, should not have the ability to imbue items in the name of their diety?

Are you saying they will be effected too or will they not be effected? I certainly can see the Steel Guardian Arrows being lowered (which are made from vendor only items).

As previously stated by others, to most of us here, it does not make much difference, as we already have completed the trophy and the skill ups.

                  We'll see what happens tomorrow.

If I wasn't already "done" with Fletching, I'd say I was lucky to have a Karana druid available to me at any time =)

I don't agree with that. Personally, I don't even have my trophy yet due to the rarity of some of the drops, and I know several others who are in the same position.

None of the tradeskills should have fully vendorable paths to 300. I don't see fletching being as difficult as smithing or tailoring, due to bows and arrows being a somewhat limited market. I don't know why this change took so long, but better late than never.

the market is limited because of the quality of receipes and the lack of attraction of ranged dps in the vision. havent got a problem with difficult, just concerned why tailoring and smithing should get gm gear and everyone else cant (ignoring a charm which you need armour for)
