hihi,
I dinged 250 tonight and I thought I'd post my skill up data in case any of ya are interested in the cost / number of combines for skilling up on bows.
My int was 280, charisma 230, and ally faction with the merchants.

Started off with 100k...

if anyones looking to get rid of 100k fast this is a great way, lol.
took about 5-6 hours of combining to go from 202- 250.

While it was *cough* rather on the expensive side... id much rather be out killing stuff than farming acrylia for hours on end to do skill ups that way =)

selling kei... hahaha. no way, you dont make that much money selling kei these days, half the people run off without paying and the rest of them only donate 10pp.

160 days played... the money just kind of happens, would be kind of sad if i got that many days, level 65 and had zero plat to my name, huh =)
... ya kind of get to a point with gear upgrades where there just isn't any tradeable stuff to upgrade with... well, not the gear thats ever up for sale anyhow =)

well, time to gm pottery=)

the number of combines per skillup wasn't that bad really,
and most of the cash was spent on those last 15 points doing SW bows, too.
Prolly a better idea to do bows to 235 and buy acrylia to make arrows the rest of the way...

Im pretty happy though, I have a buttload of nightmare bow components left over from waaaaay too long farming PoI for tinkering components, so I should be able to make the cash back with a little bit of luck =)

First off, WHOOOT!!! Huge congratulations for a monumental accomplishment! I am one of the miserable schmucks stuck at 202 and can appreciate the feat! Albeit, a bit evious as well!

However, I have to say something about one thing you said. I know this is not the best place for it and I apologize for that!

I have to differ with you, because a little basic math says otherwise. Even at 10pp per person and casting to 6 full groups per hour (which is a conservative estimate) you are making out extremely well with 300pp per hour. However, many folks pay considerably more then 10pp for KEI. Granted 10pp is not as great as the 100pp Enchanters where expecting when KEI wasn't as available.

And as far as folks not paying? Stop asking for donations and be upfront with folks by setting a price. Don't make people guess at what is fair.

I would be in heaven, knowing I could make a minimun of 300pp in an hour anytime I wanted!

Looking through your skillups I am sure you must of been sweating and cursing a little bit at skill point 248 (what with 71 attempts, and being so close and all).

I *may* do the Acrylia route myself, but I need to make about 200 odd studs for my tailoring first, so chances are I could be well and truly sick of the stuff by then .

Otherwise I will need to get a 100k together and pray the RNG loves me !

Hehehe, 300pp might be nice for you at your level (im assuming you're not level 65) but it isn't really worth my time to sit in the bazaar/nexus casting, even if i was earning 1k per hour :P Any upgrades to my armor are gonna be in the 50K range, if at all... not much comes up for sale
So, i guess it all comes down to your perspective on how much "much money" is!
For the money i spent on fletching... would be 100hours... 4 hours a night, thats almost a whole month of not doing exp / raids (eek!).
Id rather be out getting AA or doing some mini-raids to get nodrop armor upgrades


I guess other enc out there may have earned their money doing C3 the whole time in the nexus, but I sure wasn't one of them (mind numbingly boring, no thanks!)

At level 65, also, there are a lot of other things you could be farming to earn money at a *much* better rate than 1k per hour... so if i wanted cash I wouldn't be selling kei

On that note... why is that people always insist i give them c3 when i've got afk flag up (saying NO!), im anon, and im hunched over a forge? i mean geez :P dont people get the hint that im busy and not wanting to cast it, LOL.

I am so envious of this person. i've gone through 80+ combines at 238 and no skill ups, the shadewood bows killed my bank. time to go back to farming acrylia.

I guess it all depends on what is fun for you. By sitting and spending the time to sell KEI if you are an enchanter as opposed to being out there hunting to get get armor upgrades AA's and what not nets you the cash thru little effort. Granted its probably boring as hell but at least you get the money to skillup with. For some, reaching 1750 is just as important as getting those AA's or Uber Gear. For some it isn't. I know I would like to be able to eventually say, "I can make anything in the game that a player can." And have really only chosen fletching atm because I'm a ranger and want the bows for myself, but also want the satisfaction of being able to say, "I made it, I didn't buy it." So I doubt that it is a matter of money, but more a matter of 'sense of accomplishment'.

207: 46 attempts, 3 failures
208: 35 attempts, 3 failures
209: 23 attempts, 3 failures
210: 53 attempts, 4 failures

At this rate, I project that it will cost me 150-200k to match Kezzia's feat of going bow-only to 250. (I'm already behind Kezzia's curve by 5 points, and it looks like she was getting really lucky for her 211-215, well minus 212 at least).

I'm afraid I can't afford that.. I'll tough it out it thru to 215 on these bows, but after that I'm going to have to go back to arrows. Might be handy to have the 2 different skillup path's charted like this anyway.
