Just an FYI post...

After beating my head against the wall trying to bazaar farm stuff for shadow tipped acrylia arrows and the like, I switched to shadewood bows.

Started skill 251, finished 282.

Human monk, Wis 340, trophy equipped.

781 combines, so average 25.2 combines per skillup

101k plat total cost. Net cost on bows is 119p on average, loss on failure is 280-315p. Assuming a 1 in 20 triv failure rate, that adds about 14p or so per combine. Theoretical average per-attempt cost = 133p, actual incurred cost 129p.

Ouch, was thinking of doing that before patch in case they nerfed cultural fletching, but now I think I'll just wait...

Yeah, I spent 7 hours farming for Acrylia Tipped Arrows and got about 200 combines worth of stuff. Started at 239 skill, after all 200 were said and done, I got to 243. From there, I did Rough Shadewood Bows to 255. Slightly cheaper than the 1-Cam Models and 2 Cam Models, and got less fails.

Everything said and done, 239-282 cost me about 120k.

As for waiting... the reason I didn't was simply because I was not willing to risk finding a harder, all farmed method to Fletching. Currently, the only means to get over 282 is through using Girplan Feathers and Drake Spikes. Neither of which is easily farmable... and from what I have seen of Girplan Feathers, in about 20 hours of farming NWall in WoS killing about 6 Girplan a named cycle, I've seen 8 feathers. Not very viable in my book.
