  • Well, looks like it's acrylia farming time =(

Got to 202 Fletching a few weeks ago, and decided to start working on it again. I saw that I had 3 choices: Bows, mithril, and acrylia.

Did bows to 215, at best prices, each success loses 22.1pp, cost about 14kpp to get me the 13 points (about 40ish combines per skillup). I then made one darkwood compound bow, net loss of 73pp on a success (ouch!), then researched tinkered cams, and saw that even with tinkered cams, you'd still lose 21pp per bow (and the cams don't stack).

So I decided to try mithril. Made 206 attempts, cost 3300pp, and got 640 arrows out of it (about 31% success rate). Unfortunately, only got 3 skillups. Then, even worse, between me and 2 other vendors, we have over 1000 of the arrows for sale in the Bazaar for 3 days now, >at 5-6pp per (very cheap)<, and not a single arrow has moved! Apparently nobody buys these things. So at a resale value of about a silver piece, the net loss per attempt on these is about 16pp.

So do I lose 21pp per attempt (302pp on a failure), and hopefully get faster skillups with the closer trivial, or lose 16pp per attempt with TONS of subcombines and zoning back and forth between Felwithe and Kelethin? Neither one sounds appealing.

Now, I have packs full of condensed arrowheads (literally almost a thousand), that cost me nothing. However, I didn't pursue that because on my server, anything in the bazaar that has "of acrylia" in the name costs at least 60pp (blocks, bricks, pieces, doesn't matter), so that's the most expensive route to go.

But not liking the other 2 alternatives, I think I'm going to become an acrylia farmer. Just was wondering what other people were experiencing?

LOL, as I was typing this post, I sold 10 arrows! Now just 630 to go =)

I'm working on getting fletching to 250 using acrylia arrows and keeping track of successes and attempts at each skill. All combines were done at 260 wisdom.

    Thus far:

    Skill 202 -- 20 for 37
    Skill 203 -- 11 for 16
    Skill 204 -- 1 for 3
    Skill 205 -- 37 for 67
    Skill 206 -- 10 for 19
    Skill 207 -- 58 for 93
    Skill 208 -- 4 for 6
    Skill 209 -- 9 for 15 and counting...

So I have done 256 combines, farmed acrylia for many hours, and gotten 7 skillups.

      Or maybe not..

Well, after spending some time farming acrylia, I have decided to go back to mithril. Even if I sell mithril successes to the NPCs (ie, basically destroy them), in the time it would take to farm enough acrylia I could go hunting after GMing fletching on mithril, and make back whatever money I lose dumping the mithril.

It's really ridiculous how slow it is trying to collect acrylia. I guess now I'm not so mad about the prices charged in the bazaar for acrylia, I guess the drop rate justifies the prices.

      Oh well...

As for Mithril arrows sales in Bazaar, you can stay for a week without selling any, and one day a single people will buy you 10 stacks in a row.

Arrows selling is just a matter of patience, but they sell

I always get impatient with my mithrils, but then again, they rarely sell above 2 pp each. Course, the acrylia only go for 3 pp each :\

Trouble I see with selling arrows is that most people that use arrows take the cheepest they can find (I.E., warriors, rogues, just for the sake of pulling) Those that use them for damage (Rangers almost exclusively) tend to do their own fletching in order to get them the cheepest since they need so many 100s of thousands over their lifetime until they get endless quiver AA and never have to buy another arrow again.

Fletching is a nasty little bugger.

The only people I ever see buying mithril arrows are endless quiver rangers. I wouldn't expect any bulk sales there. Personally I'd use more of them but they're still not flagged as rogue usable.

It's the old time versus money spectrum. No matter what, it's gonna be painful tho, I'm sorry to say. I don't envy the choices of fletchers coming up now.
