24/33 isn't bad for no level requirement and for using simple droppable components, but there are no stats or similar.

Yeah, im very unimpressed with the bows so far.
Theres gotta be some other groovy items or something that make decent bows.

By my calculations that would make the Baku Bone a Damage 28 Delay 56 Range 150 bowstave. That's 1 damage better than Shadewood with a 10 better delay.

I also calculate Murkglider Sinew to be a -4 delay String. That would make it unique in being a string that lowers delay without lowering damage.

Those are fairly impressive when compared to normal fletching components.

However my calculations may be off since I have yet to see a Bazu bow posted with a delay listed that didn't use Murkglider Sinew.

Given that the two arrow components combine to improve each other's individual stats, there is the possibility that Murkglider Sinew & Bazu Bone improve up on one another in a non-standard formula.

We'll need to see some people doing some Baku Bone bows without Murkglider Sinew (and posting the delay this time) to be certain.

if what you suggest is true cein, there there is possibly some pieces we are missing for a better bow and arrow- arrow(new head?, new noc), bow(new cams, new tool?) also, given that the armors seem to have a way of being improved via even rarer components such as pyrilen flame or lightning cores it is also possible that something may improve these as well....then again the flame/cores were mentioned in the books and we pretty well have the fletching book figured out as far as that goes. I already tried making magnet cams :/...though i didnt try using copper sheets and/or lightning cores...hmmm

one would have to hope they have a 350ish bow and arrow out there

edit: oh yeah, there is also some npc in ruined city that mentions something about metals of discord, natvil pos977, neg298 in a cave, i have yet to check on this npc...i will have to try giving him kuaan or and a brick of magnetized metal see if i get any response

It is possible that we are still missing components.

However, what I meant is that we have yet to figure out if Bazu Bone & Murkglider Sinew are "enhancing" each other, since we have no complete stats for Bazu Bows without Murkglider Sinew.

The two arrow components are a case of a "sum greater than its parts" so to speak. A Dragorn Wing Bone used alone is an arrowshaft that Adds 4 damage and Subtracts 50 range from the arrow. Girplan Feathers used alone are a fletch that Adds 0 Damage and 25 Range. However, when BOTH components are used in an arrow (where the other components' values are known) these stats increase and they appear to get even better the more advanced the materials you use. So with a Field Point and Large Nock they appear to Add 6 damage and 25 Range together. But with a Discord Point and Small Nock they appear to Add 6 Damage and 50 Range together.

So while Bazu Bone appears to make a Dam28 Dly56 Range150 Bowstave and Murkglider Sinew appears to make a -4 Delay Bowstring, it is possible that their individual statistics on their own are worse than this.

While the OoW fletching components ARE better than the existing regular fletching components out there, they are dissappointing after PoP Fletching. GoD and OoW both seem to be part of SoE's vision to nerf the hell out of archery. If they can't actually take anything away, they will be certain that new stuff they put in does not enhance archery in any meaningful way.

You can see the stats on all normal-stringed Bazu bows by opening your fletching kit and searching for 'bazu'. You'll get a list of all the restringing recipes, and you can right-click the names to get the stats of the bows. (So we don't need to waste any Bazu Bones on that, even if technically we can find out all the stats on one Bazu Bone and restring)

My original stat calculation appears correct. The two components do not combine to create an improved product beyond what is expected.

As we have been stating, the stats are not that impressive when compared to PoP bows. However, they are **** impressive when compared to vendor-purchased fletching. A Shaped Bazu Bone Compound Bow with Murkglider Sinew String has an impressive delay of only 33. Compared to the old speed record of 39. The Rough Bazu Bone with Hemp String weighs in at 30 damage. Compare that with the old hard hitter of 27.

In addition, with Rough Bazu Bone bows coming in at 250+ trivials, we have one more option for skilling-up post 250. One that costs nothing in platinum.

While I would like to see huge improvements ala PoP Bows and SoL Arrows, I think those were one time anomolies rather than what we should come to expect.

I could've bought the skillup path if these components weren't so $*@& rare.
Acrylia was a skillup path, it dropped plenty since you need to do hundreds of combines for skills.
These drop... once per day if you kill a whole zone.

However, I am sure that once people realize how badly the new fletching compares to SoL / PoP, eventually the bazaar price for these items will come down somewhat.

Agreed that it isn't a great skill-up path, but it is one more option.

I think I've singlehandedly made prices of these components ten times higher the last week on Stromm.
First I would auction that I would buy them for 500pp (which granted is a lot for an arrowshaft) and would usually get them for that. But lately it appears that people have noticed that these items have an use, and not knowing what they're really for, they just put them up for sale for 4k each and hope someone buys them...
At least I have a whole guild hunting these things for me now. I have enough to experiment some with but I have no clue what to make with them. Just making class 1-7 arrows and ordinary Bazu Bows seems like such a waste, even if it would fill up the database here, I just can't get myself to spend them on it.

As part of my resarch for my fletching guide, I've determined that my earlier "calculations" were off.

Bazu Bone is a Dam30 Dly64 Range150 bowstave.
Murkglider Sinew is a Dam0 Dly-4 bowstring for all bows except Bazu Bone.
For Bazy Bone bows, Murkglider Sinew is a Dam-2 Dly-12 bowstring.

Still working on narrowing down the trivials, as explained in my other thread.

Has anyone tried to sell-back any of the Bazu Bone bows? I am wondering if this might be a good skill up item, as you can "buy" a bone for 105pp or so via the warrior epic quest and the sinews don't seem particular hard to come by. I could see saving up 40-80 sinews for skill up run for my last 5 "vanity" points.


EDIT: I realize now that these can be made with storebought strong so all the above applies, except in theory I would need no drops.... just get my elder elvish up enough to "buy" the stave and then use hemp string.

Hmm long shot , but has anyone tried using a pyrilian flame as a component when attempting a bazu bow? The flames are used in the bazu smithing to upgrade the standard bazu armour. Wondered if will wolk with the bows?

Has anyone here gotten the bazu bone purchase to work? My Elder Elvish is 81, and she replied to my hail with a standard merchants greating. I'll try again at 100, obviously, but just curious to hear from someone that it actually works.

BTW, the merchant in question is untrackable, which is annoying.
